RE: MWC in talks with Gonzaga, perhaps another hybrid conference
Would SDSU come for football only? SDSU for football and VCU for Olympics would be nice. Two schools with 30k+ student bodies.

How much does WSU make here without football?

Imagine if Boise, SDSU, TCU, had decided to stay. Then maybe we add CSU, BYU, and Fresno.
We would be the C2C conference. Get it ? The Coast to Coast Conference. C2C. See what I did there ? ugh..... At least it's original...

RE: MWC in talks with Gonzaga, perhaps another hybrid conference
I think the jury is still out regarding true mega conferences. Two of those already broke up: the expanded WAC and then the Big East. Several current AAC members are well aware of both of those situations. While I can't see how the Big 10 or ACC breaks up, we are only a few years into their experiment with 14 and 15 members, respectfully. I guess the SEC expansion to 14 is also fairly recent.
What are the compelling reasons to go to 14 rather than the current 12?

I don't think we get any TV money (which is what we got in the MVC) until the new TV deal kicks in. We won't get a full share of the new deal since we don't have football and i'm not sure what % of a share we will get.
Somebody that knows for sure can correct me if i'm wrong but I believe we get to keep all of whatever NCAA credits we earn until we start getting TV money under the new deal.

Both have big alumni bases and sit in hotbed of recruiting areas and major metro areas. Those advantages and their own bball history make both the equal of Gonzaga especially with travel added in.
Dayton is never joining the American while UC is a member.
The media markets of Cincinnati and Dayton are merging and they bring 0 TV value to a league that already has the strongest television presence in the area.
Most likely true. Although they have other positives like being a natural traveling partner, fitting the AAC,and tourny credits. Adding a Olympic only already in your footprint is low cost and ok return.
Still Dayton is a better match then Gonzaga. VCU may be the best match of all. If that ever happened pretty sure Dayton would follow. I suppose Rhode Island or the Bonnie's could be vcu's partner to help out UConn with a travel partner instead of Dayton.

Not sure if you keep the whole credits but I do think you have a higher pay out from them until the tv deal.
If I remember right you will get a 30% share after the new deal and navy will get 70%.

I agree unless they drag st Mary's with them, or the mwc steals st Mary's instead of Gonzaga or because Gonzaga tells them no.

Actually put on the Realignment board. I am starting see the AAC's logic with bringing Basketball Only schools.

So, since I have not seen it responded from a UCONN perspective. My thoughts the AAC should add two of the three (URI, St Bonn or UMASS) to get some teams in the Northeast for UCONN to help get them off an island. I just don't know if UCONN fans thinks this makes sense, they may prefer other teams they think are more prominent (VCU, St. Louis or Dayton?) verse regional.

UCONN leaves we abandon the northeast.

Yeah, I have the more eastern than northeastern. Texans don't know geography outside of our own state.
