One less WR for 2018....
...Andrew Parchment (leaving per his twitter...retweeted by HuskieWire.)

I would imagine he ends up back in FLA.

Would have been a redshirt Soph this year. Not sure how much of a loss this is but WR is not a position of strength.

One less WR for 2018....
I was excited about him when he committed years back but he never impressed much during his opportunities.

He’s tweeting out to all the coaches at James Madison so he’s looking at moving down to FCS anyways. Next man up

Not everyone is D1 ready. Lots of young wide receivers on the team trying to make a name for themselves......

I'm thinking this was "mutual" since Parchment would have played a lot this fall.

FYI Jake Hlava, Michael Warren and Justin Nwachukwu have also left.

Maybe they have someone coming in that would take some of his snaps away. Grad transfer?

Coming back DJ Brown, Juaun Wesley, Spencer Tears, Cole Tucker, the two Robinson’s, Ivan Smith(Not including incoming freshman). If I’m missing someone please add on..... If you can’t stand out with this roster at Receiver it’s time to move on if you want to play. A grad transfer would be nice though.

I'm not too worried about wr. As long as Tears stays on track he will be a solid #1. Wesley will be a big boost on the opposite side. Brown in the slot, myeh. OK.

Tucker should get a good shot at getting some reps behind Tears or Wesley. Kokosioulis is listed at wr and I'd bet he will be working behind Brown.

Beyond that, you hope one of the Robinson boys emerge. Of the freshman besides Koko, maybe Brummett is a playmaker.

One big positive...the Robinson's go 6-3,6-5 and Brummett is 6-3.

Would or would not????

Parchment had a decent 247 rating if I recall but wasn't seen on the field as a WR much. Didn't have the patience to wait his turn I guess.

2 targets. 1 catch for 6 yards. Niu career. On paper, that is not so good. 03-wink paper - parchment. See what I did there?

I think we're deep enough at wr. Young but deep. A heavy run offense and terrible passer, there are not enough balls to feed these guys.

My thoughts too. Maybe its a defeatist attitude, but if Childers doesn't improve considerably throwing the ball, the wr position is nullified anyway. BUT, if Childers makes enough improvement that NIU could have an effective passing game, youve cleared the biggest problem next years team had.

Was a freshman preferred walk on last year from New Jersey. Not a very common recruiting ground for us and DeKalb is a long way away from home especially if you’re paying your own way

I think you meant Ezra Saffold rather than Ivan Smith who never made it here.

Didn’t know Ivan never made it, and I’m shocked Ezra gets another year.

If Childers can't throw it doesn't matter. He had more bad moments throwing than good moments if my memory is correct. He threw one pop up pass I still get can't out of my head. His arm is crap until he proves otherwise.

+1000. I’m scrolling through all these WR posts thinking to myself “pretty soon someone is going to realize that most WRs are only as good as the guy throwing to him”. Thanks, p-dog!!

I have a hard time believing that Childers is going to get that much of a gain in arm strength. I just don't think he's a good QB. He may not have turned the ball over last year, but we're going to need his arm this year to be successful, and he looked like a high school freshman out there last year with his pop flies and inaccurate passes.

He played and started 3/4th (or close to it) of the season and I thought he got worse as the season went on. I didn't see improvement. I doubt we are going to see much, if any, improvement out of him this season. Florida St, Utah, BYU, and Iowa defenses are gonna eat him up and spit him out.

RE: One less WR for 2018....
Childers was a redshirt freshman who came into last fall as a clear cut number three. Apart from being a freshman, being a number three means he wasn’t given any consideration especially since it seemed Graham/Santa were the presumed starters.

Give him a full off season as the number one guy with starting experience he will be good. He maybe doesn’t have the arm to throw bombs, but with big body receivers and shifty guys who can move in space, out offense could be explosive again. I’ll take a qb who can throw 20 yards on a rope with accuracy over a bomb guy any day.

In theory, I think their receiver recruiting philosophy makes sense.

Let’s look back at Chandler’s first year playing as a frosh...there were many with doubt then too.
