WAC honors...
Here are my picks. Trying not to just base them on emotion but on real stats:

WAC POY: Zach Lofton-NMSU
WAC COY: Chris Jans-NMSU
WAC FOY: Alesandro Lever-GCU
WAC DOY: Conner Toolsen-Utah Valley

WAC 1st Team:

Zach Lofton-NMSU
Jermerio Jones-NMSU
Nick Dixon-UTRGV
Conner Toolsen-Utah Valley
Alesandro Levar-GCU

WAC 2nd Team:
Akolda Manyang-Utah Valley
Fred Sims-Chicago State
Oscar Frayer-GCU
Matej Kavas-Seattle
Aaron Menzies-Seattle

Those are my picks. I know Aggie fans are talking about Jermerio Jones for POY and he could be. 3 20 rebound games in a row is incredible but I still think Lofton is the man for his entire body of work.

In sheer basketball terms Josh Braun has been a disappointment this year. However, in terms of Josh as a student and citizen, he is one of the very best representatives of GCU and the WAC. He is the epitome of the STUDENT-athlete and represents all that is right with college sports.

We will take your word on that. We don't get to see that side of players.

Now Dancing, I wouldn't say Braun is a flop. He is just limited in the way he can score now. All the pre-season hype put a target on his back. WAC coaching, players, and defenses have improved over Braun's college career. While at the same time, Braun's growth as a player pretty much stopped after his Sophomore season. All the knee injuries and increased weight has reduced his athleticism. With his bulkier body, he has lost his quick hops, his fairly quick first step, and his lateral quickness. Now, he can't create separation without the help of high and low post screens. He is still a good perimeter shooter but now he has a smaller window of opportunity/separation to square up and make shots. Josh Braun is still a top 10-15 player in the WAC. He is just not a top tier player anymore. Heck, there are at least two other players on the GCU team now who have more upside than Braun.

No need to take my word on it. This comes directly from the WAC website:
"Braun is working on a master's degree in business administration and currently carries a 3.60 grade-point average. He earned his undergraduate degree in business management. He is a two-time first team Academic All-American, the 24th first team Academic All-American in WAC men's basketball history and just the eighth two-time first team selection in WAC history.

A two-time WAC Preseason Player of the Year, Braun currently averages 12.8 points, good for eighth in the league, and 2.2 three-pointers per game, tied for sixth in the WAC. He also adds 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Braun is the WAC's active leading career scorer with 1,671 points. Earlier this season, he broke the Grand Canyon all-time career three-point record and now has 252 three-pointers, good for 11th all-time in WAC history."
