I do seriously wonder if they are going to put App/AState on a Wednesday instead, which would stink. That game is great on Thursday's, but terrible for a Wednesday.

I'm wondering about GS midweek games for this reason as well. We have reason to be optimistic relative to '16 and '17, but the O Line is still unproven and not deep.

stAte at GS received the highest ratings of all Sun Belt televised games last year (not bowl season). So it stands to reason that one will be on again.

They love putting our games with App during midweek too.

I'd love to see App carry some of the midweek load though, they've been spared pretty dramatically.

We had 2 home Thursday night games in 2015 and one in 2016 and 2017.

You've actually only had 3 that I count. Two of them were against us, one was against stAte. Luckily for you, both of those are good draws for your fanbase.

We've had 7 since entering the conference. The only other team to match or beat us in that number is stAte I believe.

7 in four years. 2 in ‘14, 2 in ‘15, 2 in ‘16, and then 1 last year.

And those are just the midweek games we’ve had to play at home.

6 actually. We only had 1 home Thursday in 2015. Home games in bold.

2014

2015
at App
vs Texas State

2016
at Arkansas State
vs App
vs Louisiana

2017
vs Arkansas State
at App

Meanwhile, App has had:

2014
at Georgia Southern

2015
vs Georgia Southern
vs Arkansas State

2016
at Louisiana
at Georgia Southern

2017
vs Georgia Southern

That's 9 weekday conference games in 4 years for Georgia Southern, with 6 of them at home. App has played 6 weekday conference games with only 3 of them at home.

The best part of becoming a terrible team is no longer hosting weeknight games. I look forward to improving from horrible to bad/average this year. Baby steps.

I'm someone who doesn't mind weeknight games. Our AD has said over and over that the main goal of joining the FBS was to become the next Boise State, have a national brand, and play on a national stage. I see weeknight games as a necessary evil where the long term positives outweigh the short term negatives.

You are correct. We didn't have a home weeknight game in 2016. We did play three on the road that year.

Keep winning 2 games a year and you won't have that "problem".

But seriously I can understand your frustration. No program should have to have more than four home mid-week games over a three year span. The money just doesn't justify it.

This could be part of it. Some administrations ask for less mid-week games as they see the gate revenue on Saturdays as more important. If you ask or volunteer for the tv games you'll likely increase your odds.

Neither strategy is wrong.

I believe App's strategy is to be good enough to be attractive for mid-week road games and host one home game a year. I really enjoy the mid-week road games, really frees up the weekends!

South since 2014:
2014: Troy @ USA - Friday
2014: Navy @ USA - Black Friday
2015: Arkansas State @ USA - Tuesday
2015: Louisiana @ USA - Thursday
2016: Troy @ USA - Thursday
2017: Oklahoma State @ USA - Friday
2017: USA @ Troy - Wednesday
2017: USA @ Georgia State - Thursday

I hate midweek games.

You guys traded that wonderful distinction to your northerly Georgia Neighbors this season.

Their Conference road schedule is frightening. And that doesn't count what happens if the Sun Belt decides to give them another home game opposite UGA/GT...

Not sure that impacted them much last year despite being a few miles down the road.. that game between UGA/GT was decided before kick off.

It does not matter really although ArkSt and App have been the most stable you never know who is going to take a step back or lose their coach in this conference. Nobody mid level and up is head and shoulders above anyone else. Couple of teams at the bottom that need a major upgrade in recruiting and coaching (TXST) but most of us grouped pretty tightly in terms of talent and competent coaching.

stAte @ GS

I'm readying myself for 2 midweek home games.

Complete BS and is why I will not buy season tickets until the schedule is out. It could be three if ESPN had their way. Troy, App and ArkSt all home games. Our conference is not being broke off by ESPN by any means there has to be a point where it is counterproductive pissing off donors and killing attendance.

Record does not matter it is who actually watched and GS games IIRC had the highest ratings. Hope not tired of multiple mid week home games one should be the absolute max.
