When the team fails to show up, how can anyone expect the fans to show up?

I am still amazed that NIU is known nationally as a football school and totally irrelevant in basketball...Who would of thought that in 1998??

What about taking a chance on Jon Scheyer he’s young, but is from Illinois and can relate to players being young.

I was under the impression that Monty has two years left after this year? I was told tonight that he only has one year left after this year? Does anybody know? If he only has one after this year then I believe he will be let go barring a run this year in the MAC tournament.

RE: Are Montgomery's days numbered?
This is a example of the maturity level of some guys. During a timeout Geno went after Donte Thorpe pushing him and yelling at him they had to be separated. Geno was clearly the aggressor and one who started it. Later on he said I’m sorry and was hugging Thorpe, frustration has set in and I don’t believe they will recover as a team. Earlier in the season Geno was berating McCarthy because he didn’t catch a pass.

Scheyer isn’t coming here. Coach K wouldn’t allow it. Not the level of school he could get his first job with. Besides he’s probably out of our price range

Scheyer will most likely be Dukes next Head Coach once Coach K retires. Not a chance he goes to a MAC school.

I could be wrong , but I don’t think the basketball assistants make the money like football assistants do. Dennis gates wouldn’t be a bad option for us either and has coached here.

Nah that will be Chris Collins or Bobby Hurley. Scheyer is still out of our range though.

Yeah, tomorrow is March 1st...pretty sure it's too late for a recovery.

Official attendance was 869, but I bet that was inflated.

Can we just ask Monty to leave at the end of the season?

Ask him to look for an assistant job elsewhere and wave the remainder of his contract? Maybe he cares enough about the program to not keep us in limbo for one more year? 03-wink

Nice guy, but has had TOO LONG without moving the needle on the program.

Things have been disappointing but I would argue that the needle hasn't moved. Do you remember where we started? We should be above .500 and I'm not satisfied with mediocre but that's better than 5 wins. Underachieved this year for sure. I don't know if he'll get another year or not but I believe we will be much better next season. If he goes, I really don't like the idea of starting all over again. Whatever happens I hope our core players stay.

This is all delaying the inevitable. It was virtually impossible for the program to get any worse than under Patton. Do you remember how often the words "will be much better next season" have been used in conjunction with Monty?
Seriously folks, so what if Monty gets above .500 next year, eight years to achieve that minimal improvement? True basketball and Huskie fans deserve more than to lose by 29 and then three days later lose by 30 at home. If Frazier is smart, he needs to realize the only thing to revitalize his own resume is to have the courage to make a decision that will have little or no opposition, then make a significant hire for one of the only two sports most schools care about.
