Gambling does not solve anything...look at Mississippi.

Recreational cannabis

I don't smoke and never have but the pot laws are plain stupid. Should be treated the same as alcoholic and cigs...... made legal and taxed hard

No one can make me believe Pot is any more dangerous or costly than those two. But it's billions that could be added to the state. Not only the taxes but jobs and the new taxes off those

wouldn't legalizing and taxing meth create even more revenue in Kentucky? from what I've read, y'all would become one of the richest states overnight

There are certain areas of Kentucky where meth is prevalent unfortunately. However, it is not any worse here than any other state. It is bad regardless though.

Marijuana is actually the #1 cash crop in Kentucky. More so than tobacco. Tax it and reap the financial rewards to solve the budget crisis in the state.

That's funny. However, this site reports Tennessee as the #2 site with most meth labs. NC at #7 and KY at #8.

Over time that might be true, but as California is discovering, there's an entire economy with 50+ years experience in producing and distributing a product while hiding from law enforcement. Why should they pay taxes now?

I do agree with legalization for numerous reasons, but it's unlikely to produce the expected revenue bonanza (most figures take the crop estimates and apply tax rates as though they were dutifully paid like corn or soybeans). There will be some benefit: less spending on enforcement, less on prisons, and there will be tax revenue. Just not in keeping with production/usage figures.
