Ideas on how to make espn a mid-major.
ESPN has been trying to kill my school for over 20 years with conference realignment, BCS/P5 and labeling us “mid-major”. They’ve almost destroyed us. Time to fight back. How to we make ESPN a mid-major and get involved in college sports media realignment? Serious ideas. I want them to hurt as bad as they hurt us.
I want them out.

Fox Sports 1 was your best shot.

I just don’t know what it would take for NBC to launch a serious contender to the four-letter network, aside perhaps from the slow death of MSNBC. NBC still has finger in the RSN pie, although not as deeply as what Fox is selling to Disney. If NBC got serious about college sports, it certainly would make life in Bristol much more difficult.

CBS is largely in the same boat, but they don’t have the Olympics to get that “signature” event other than the Super Bowl every three years (unless if you count March Madness or the SEC Championship game).

A combo of cbs-Sn, nbc-sn and fs1 along with Internet like FB, YouTube, Netflix with sling Hulu etc getting involved. I don’t want to play nice with ESPN. I want them to become a mid major.

Some could call my mission blind rage. So be it. I want them to hurt the way they’ve hurt us. Hearing about them calling AAC baseball “mid-major” was the straw that broke the camels back. It’s not enough for me to not pay for espn anymore. I’m on a campaign of media Sports realignment where espn becomes a mid major.

Its so true these talking heads spend half the telecast point out how such and such conference is mid major.

I don't see the point in drilling that into everyone's heads. Why can't they talk up the programs they are announcing for and talk about their post season prospects in a positive light?

Things you can do.

1) Cut the cord and quit paying for that BS.
2) Refuse to engage in any conversation where the term mid-major is used.
3) Stop attending any arenas where power schools are playing their home games.

The G5 need to pool their money together and buy ESPN from Disney. Then they can just promote the G5 by putting their games in the most desirable time slots and watch the profits roll in. They will be making so much money the schools could recoup their investment in a few years, tops.

Media and then case ESPN has used deadly words against us. But it’s more than words, espn has attempted to kill our schools.
I want them out.

Nope. I don’t want my school to own ESPN. I want espn to become a mid major. I want them to hurt.

BB777,

I am sorry, if ECU would have gotten their basketball program just to NIT level every year, they would have been in the Big East 20 years ago. The basketball program has been the albatross around ECU's neck. Again, I will never understand why ECU could never get basketball off the ground but that is the primary reason why ECU has been kept our of BCS and P5 conferences. That is not ESPN's fault. Currently, the current AD is what is holding ECU down, not ESPN.

I appreciate your respectful response wolf (unlike the other ACC fan on here who mocks the AAC) but that's not the point I'm making. ESPN is doing horrific damage to schools when they dub them "mid major". ESPN referred to the AAC as "mid major" in baseball recently. Really??? Baseball? They know what they're doing.
ESPN made up mid major, non- BCS and G5 and for 20 years pushing it hard on us.
I want them to stop with their campaign against us. Until then, I want them hurt.

Another thing Wolf, I totally understand 100% why you would be against what I'm saying. As an ACC fan, your interests and ESPN's are tied together until 2040. You have to have ESPN succeed or your conference doesn't. I'm not a conference fan like you are but I understand. Maybe if NCSU got invited to the Big 10 or Big 12 you'd see it my way a little more as those 2 aren't 100% dependent on ESPN like the ACC is. I used to follow NCSU wrestling and would love to see you guys in a real wrestling conference against real competition.

First, ECU is not a mid major baseball program. Unfortunately, the AAC is a Mid Major conference. The AAC has been very disappointing in basketball, they have yet to prove they are a major conference by performance. Basketball this year, basketball should receive a minimum of four bids with the addition of WSU. Unless there is an upset in the AAC tourney, it will be only three. I figure last year had to be a fluke in Baseball, I totally expect to see ECU march through AAC baseball like Sherman through Atlanta. BTW, hope to see you all win the series against UNC. 04-cheers

I never watch the Eastern Sports Propaganda Network except for games. Certainly not one second on their brainless Talking Heads.

But even for games, CBS Sports and FS1 kick their ass in quality. Shame the casual fan doesn’t realize it.

Well billybobby777, you are correct, ESPN has been colluding with certain major college football conferences and the NCAA to create this p5 and I believe to weaken and or destroy the rest of the FBS conferences, but you know what billy, this is America ! And good ole capitalism will prevail and “make college football great again”
Just say’n
And thank your lucky stars your in Texas !

What would you prefer the group of conferences outside the most powerful conferences be called besides G5 in FBS and mid-major in basketball?

Nothing lasts forever, so we know sooner or later ESPNs reign will be over.

But whether it happens sooner or later it won't impact on ECU's status in the hierarchy. That has always been independent of anything ESPN does.

I have to disagree. What’s going on with the Big 12 is a case in point. ESPN has become a monopoly, just like Standard Oil, Microsoft, Bell Telephone, etc. Time to give ESPN a rival.
