He was very inconsistent with his shot early in the season when he got most of his playing time. At times just looked lost out there, and in the end Groce earned the minutes.

Harris is the biggest puzzle of this season. He seemed lost, lacked confidence in his shot, etc. etc. and ended up at the end of the bench.

I suspect he is better than he showed but as someone mentioned he must have had a lot of pressure on himself when Tobias was with the Pistons.

And he put a lot of effort into defense too. But the problem for Harris getting playing time is that Nobles offers a better 3pt FG% (37 vs 33) PLUS is the better and more versatile defender (also has a little more skills with offense inside the arc. If we need more outside shooting to open up the middle for Thompson down low or a Bond/Jackson drive, then I think the best option is to encourage Nobles to shoot more.

Might make some sense to give Harris sone of Ellison’s minutes since his shooting is not great. But I think Murphy really like’s Ellison’s defense and for some reason EMU has been playing very well with Ellison playing a more prominent role in the rotation.

Thanks for responses. I did see hesitation in his games when he started. Almost looked like he was afraid to make a mistake, so passed the ball. Too bad. I think if he could have pulled out of the rut, if he played unafraid of being pulled or not. Hope he finds himself next year.

221 never looked so good.
Breaking a Boykins record is special. Really amazing that Earl had that many. I believe a handful of those steals were off Szerbiak.

It was a nice little senior commemoration before the game. Nice in game announcement of the record during the game (Good job KPJ!) And really nice acknowledgement after the game.

Definitely a huge record to have achieved. I am very happy for the kid and how well everything worked out for recognition of the kid today!

I agree. I never write off a player after one bad season.

If he graduates this spring, maybe he goes down to a lower level as a grad transfer.

If he doesn't graduate, he should stay and get his degree and hope for a better year next season.

Players should graduate in 4 or 5 years, as needed. Schools are graded on graduating student-athletes.

You have perfected the art of the “Shhhhhh-ooting two”. Somehow is both more evident of a “Shhhhh” and flows into “Shooting” more naturally. I like it... just some feedback.

KPJ,

That was really neat seeing on the scoreboard Tim Bond and dark horse Dunker. Well done!

Glad to see Thompson and gf at WBB game. Thats showing respect for your fellow athletes. Call me old fashioned, but that would make a huge impact for Murphy to show up for something other than himself.[/align]

Glad we had a very good senior day. Here is one which was a complete disaster...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/co...3978ed824a

"The Maryland men’s basketball season reached its nadir at halftime of Saturday’s 85-61 loss to Michigan, with the Xfinity Center crowd booing their lungs out as Terrapins Coach Mark Turgeon walked off the floor. His team trailed by 30. "

OUCH!!!

Wish the convo had better phone and Wi-Fi access. You're basically off the grid in the place.

KPJ, it's a little late to request this but wondering if you can change the routine of standing until emu scores. Back in the day at Bowen we did this, however, we would stand until the opponent scores. With emu being a defensive oriented team it kind of seems like that's what we should get back to.

You can sign in as a wifi guest. Name, phone, email and reason for requested access. Its better than nothing, and in most of campus. I used it in Pease auditorium to watch away game, on silent mode, while seeing a concert.

RE: Game Day: NIU
Well I've ripped on coach Murphy earlier in the season but you've got to give him credit when credit is due. I was at the EMU vs Toledo game and I believe it's the hardest I've ever seen a Murphy team play in my opinion. Only using my eye test (no stats), our defense didn't play that well but on offense we were actually very organized and fluid. Out of a time out, Murphy designed a play that led to Minnie coming off a screen and getting a dunk. The team looked for Thompson inside as the first option and Thompson had 20+ points and just killed Toledo.

Today NIU focused on stopping Thompson inside and they have a lot of big bodies. This opened up the outside and Minnie made them pay for concentrating on Thompson. Again using the eye test, the offense seemingly is working the ball by passing more, and dribbling less that's making us more efficient. To me we're also sharing the ball more that is not only resulting in better offensive play but we are committing less turn overs too. Did the offense get better by having Ellison running the point and Jackson play the SG? Maybe. Or is it just Murphy finally getting a better offensive system? Maybe it's a combination.

I can't put my finger on why we are playing so well but I'm certainly enjoying it. Another thing I've noticed is it seems like we are turning the ball over less and sharing the ball with extra passes. One thing for sure, the team is playing hard. There's no MAC team that has EMU talent not even Buffalo. I would take Thompson, Minnie and Bond over any other three in our conference. It could be an interesting match up with Toledo if we can find a way to win against WMU on Tuesday. I would still love to see Murphy's thoroughbreds switch up to a man to man occasionally but I will give Murphy credit for having his team playing very hard.

Well done and Go Eagles!

Indeed.

The one thing I don't know and maybe it isn't up to humans to know, if Minnie's performance was because of what we were doing OR NIU doing or not doing OR simply the basket looked like an ocean to Minnie.

I think Minnie was simply having a career day. Everything he did, except for one dunk, was perfect. End result = career day.

One day (@CMU) he can't make an open trey to save himself. The next game he can't miss.

Here’s to hoping we don’t have to worry about that until November!
I completely understand where you’re coming from though and will suggest that.
I only have suggestion power, I don’t write the scripts.
