Battle for 6th place
I'm looking at the standings and trying to figure out what needs to happen for Drexel to finish 6th. Obviously they have to win tomorrow and Elon would have to lose at least one of its last two. There's also a possibility that Drexel could be tied with JMU for 6th if they win their last two. And it's also possible for a 3 way tie between Drexel, JMU, and Elon. It also seems to help Drexel that they beat CoC and Northeastern, but it doesn't help them that Hofstra moved up to 3rd, who they didn't beat.

If anyone has any tiebreaker details updated, please share.

RE: Battle for 6th place
#6 - Drexel - UNCW winner unless Elon beats both NE and JMU at home. Elon will also clinch 6th if they beat NE, Drexel beats UNCW, and Hofstra is the #3 seed. JMU can snag the 6th seed if they win out against Delaware and Elon, Elon beats NE, and Drexel beats UNCW.

As long as Elon doesn't upset NE, our game is for #6

RE: Battle for 6th place
So it's really important for both Drexel or UNCW (whoever wins) that Northeastern beats Elon tomorrow night.

Correct. That would be quite the upset though if that didnt happen.

Hofstra in third doesn't hurt you. You and Elon both split with Charleston. You beat Northeastern, who will be ahead of Hofstra, and Northeastern swept Elon, so you win a two-way tie with Elon. James Madison didn't beat any of the top three, so you would also win a tiebreaker with them either two-way or three-way with Elon.

NE still has to play Elon. So if Elon beats them, and finishes tied with Drexel. Elon will win the tiebreaker w/ a victory over #3 Hofstra as Elon and Drexel split and both got a game against CoC and NE.

RE: Battle for 6th place
I thought the scenario was:
Drexel wins vs UNCW
Elon loses to NU
Then JMU has to beat Elon as Drexel has more overall wins then JMU

RE: Battle for 6th place
More overall wins means nothing. Conference record matters. Then it is head to head against those youre tied with, if not broken then best record against the top team down the standings until a tie is broken. If not broken then it goes to best RPI

From the way its looking...

If William & Mary beats C of C, its going to depend on the Hofstra/Towson game...

W&M LOSS, regardless of the other game we play Hofstra.
W&M WIN, Hofstra WIN - We play Hofstra.
W&M WIN, Hofstra LOSS - We play William & Mary.

I'm personally divided. I wouldnt mind playing W&M again. Gustys terrifies me.

RE: Battle for 6th place
I think this covers how we will finish in all scenarios
We at least won't be seeded 10th - we can still be anywhere from 6th to 9th.
Our potential 1st tournament game could be Hofstra, W&M, Elon, JMU, or Delaware.

If Drexel beats UNCW:
--If Northeastern beats Elon - 6th (by ourselves, or in tiebreaker over JMU or Elon), would play Hofstra or WM (if WM and Towson win on Sat)
--If Elon beats Northeastern:
----If Elon also beats JMU - Elon is 6th, Drexel is 7th JMU/Delaware loser 10th
----If JMU then beats Elon:
------If JMU also beat Delaware - JMU is 6th, Drexel 7th, Elon 8th, Uncw 9th, UD 10th
------If Delaware beat JMU: in either below (UD 8th, UNCW 9th, JMU 10th)
--------If WM beats CoC and Towson beats Hofstra - Drexel 6th, Elon 7th, WM 3rd
--------Otherwise Elon 6th, Drexel 7th
If UNCW beats Drexel:
--If Northeastern beats Elon:
----if Elon beats JMU: UNCW 6th, Elon 7th, Drexel 8th, JMU/UD winner 9th, JMU/UD loser 10th
----if JMU beats Elon:
------If Delaware beats JMU: UNCW 6th, UD 7th, Drexel 8th, JMU 9th, Elon 10th
------if JMU beats Delaware: UNCW 6th, JMU 7th, Drexel/Elon 8/9th(depending on 3rd place), UD 10th
--If Elon beats Northeastern
----if Elon beats JMU: Elon 6th, UNCW 7th, Drexel 8th, JMU/UD winner 9th, JMU/UD loser 10th
----if JMU beats Elon:
------If Delaware beats JMU: UNCW 6th, Elon 7th, UD 8th, Drexel 9th, JMU 10th
-------if JMU beats Delaware: UNCW 6th, JMU 7th, Elon 8th, Drexel 9th, UD 10th

I am drinking the Kool-aid. Ive got an 87-84 victory tomorrow over the Seahawks. If Williams doesnt play or gets hurt I have us losing by double digits. Cacok will be a nightmare for us

RE: Battle for 6th place
This game will be a challenge for us today. They whooped us down there at the beginning of the conference season. They have quick guards who can shoot from the outside as well and a beast inside with Cacok who leads the nation in rebounding.

Although they have some talented players, they have struggled in their first year with CB McGrath at the helm. They won only 1 D1 game in the non-confernce. Like us they have found it hard to win on the road. Their only road win is at Elon - which is the closest school in the conference to them. Also like us, they seem to be a streaky team in games. On Thursday, they were up by 9 at half over William & Mary, eventually losing by 13.

If we bother to play a bit of defense, this should be a win. Hopefully we learned from the first half of the Delaware game that just leaving guys wide open at the three point line isn't the best idea. Offensively we just need to be patient and attack them. Cacok is prone to foul trouble, so it would be good to go at him early and often with Williams/Demir and with the guards driving.
