No one is going to pay Tubby $2M a year let alone over $3. For comparison, Buzz Williams make $2.6M.

Okay, "luke warm" seat it may be due to recent successes, wins are wins and tough to come by...

With the recent FBI stings, there may be coaching opportunities for Tubbs,i.e. Dream Jobs...I think that Tubby's recent success is due to him showing a pulse and ACTUAL enthusiasm for ANOTHER coaching opportunity....I seem to think that he's miserable here and will bow out for an institution that will covet him and his son....what institution that may be???? Tubby to Ole Miss?

1. Doesn't recruit Memphis...

Sure he does. Just not WHILE he is in memphis. He got kids from here when he was at Minnesota.

He can be bought out for $1.5 mil per year for 4 years after next season. There is no way he is kept around next season simply because he has a winning record. That would mark 5 straight years with no post season play, no high level recruits coming in and virtually empty FexEx Forum. He will be gone...

I'm a fan of the team like most of us here and I do not think Tubby will be here for the length of his contract term.

Then it will be Tubby's decision to leave, IMO. Memphis is not going to fire Tubby if he is winning games (more than he loses)
. With the way Memphis MBB has been allowed to schedule OOC for the last 6-7 yrs, it is virtually impossible for Memphis to have a losing season. And by all accounts Memphis will be better next year than this year. That gets Tubby to his 5th & last year of his contract. The only other consideration is if Bowen were to find another job (& he's always looking) in the interim. Based upon who might be hired, could change the rationale - but probably not if Rudd remains as president.

Bingo!!! I didn't understand the comment by Atlanta. This was perfectly stated....Memphis has higher aspirations than JUST winning games...Josh was winning games....It's time to get back over the CUSP

I thought Buzz was $2.8M/yr....same point regardless
Steve Alford on 7 years for $18.2M contract ($2.6M/yr)
Sean Miller's contract increases annually (last 2 years $2.6M/yr)
Rick Barnes $2.25M/yr
Bo Ryan $2.41/yr
Jay Wright $2.49/yr
Mike Anderson $2.2M/yr
Roy Williams $2.1M/yr (thought to make more off books)...??
John Beilein $2.84M/yr
Dana Altman $1.8M/yr

Active Coaches that make more than Tubby:
Coach K
Cal
Bill Self
Izzo
Jamie Dixon

Just started looking up coach' salaries randomly. Not a complete list......Interesting

But Penny would pay us $6mil/year to coach here, we would be rich, it’s a no-brainer.

We are friggin 4-9 against Top 100 and every acts as if a 4 game win streak with one decent win has rocketed the program into basketball nirvana.

No, Tubby is not on the hot seat. His team would pound Penny's team into the ground.

I think East could probably get within 15 of USF at home.

It's all about the contract. Of the dozen-or-so ridiculously wealthy people who care about Memphis basketball, do enough of them care enough to piss away $9mil plus whatever you have to pay for the next guy? That's a whole lot more caring than I have for anything that is't life or death.
