WMU has 2 Saturday home games, one of those against our FCS opponent.
Wow.

RE: 2018 Composite MAC FB Schedules
It's complete BS that the MAC keeps scheduling rivalry games for November weeknights. In general I support MACtion, but putting Miami-OU on a Tuesday or Wednesday three of the last five years is pretty bad; any meager gains we get in ratings with the rivalry angle are undoubtedly outweighed by the attendance decrease and general loss of interest. And with us playing UC at Paul Brown Stadium this year then Nippert in 2019 the MAC is essentially making sure our only home rivalry game until 2020 is this season's opener against Marshall (which really isn't all that relevant for younger fans anyways).

Someway, somehow, UT got bgSUCKS at home on the first SATURDAY in OCTOBER! When that happened a couple years ago, UT had 30k+ for the game. It was awesome.

Improvement over last year.
*No ESPN3 only Midweek games. All Midweek games are at least on the U or CBSSN.
*No more than 2 games on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night. 10/31, 11/6, 11/13, 11/15 only 1 midweek game.
*Low amount of mid week appearances by weaker MAC programs EMU (1), CMU (1), BG (2), Akron (2).
*Ohio and Miami, two of the better programs in the East both get WMU and NIU on the schedule. Buffalo gets Toledo on the road.

Last year's schedule announced 22 TV games, this one only 16. Im concerned by that.

I would feel a lot better sacrificing the schedule if the games were actually on ESPN, not ESPN2 or U or CBSS.

I think ESPN is trying to schedule smarter. Quality over quantity.
If they are going to put games on national TV at least put good games and put all of them on some ESPN channel or CBSSN.
Sometimes I think they took the 'lottery ticket' approach. Put a bunch of games out there and hope for the best: put the best on the best channels and the worst on ESPN3.
I wish EMU had gotten one midweek game.

Glad to see Kent/Akron is on Saturday again. Even with the schools so close, better to have the rivalry game on the weekend. Will be a much better draw on a Saturday in October than a Tuesday night in November.
With fewer TV games, it seems there are fewer days with 2 MACtion games at the same time. Might be better games on TV, and it won’t split the audience.

2009 was the last time NIU played Toledo on a Saturday.

And that's the thing. Schedule rivalry in name games like Miami-Ball State or BG-Kent, not the actual matchups with meaning and potential if it's during a Saturday.

It did have 22 midweek games (25 counting Black Friday) but 4 of those games ended up on ESPN3.

2018 has 20 counting Black Friday but none I believe are being dropped to ESPN3 this year. Double header on ESPNU & CBSSN on Black Friday.
