RE: MAC Schedule Released
Some of the blame rests with your past AD's, primarily the ones that were too heavy on scheduling and done games, and more importantly the four for nothing series with Nebraska. The four for nothing with Nebraska literally means that NIU gives up two home games. Toledo didn't do that and because of it they seven home games this year and then in a couple more years they have seven home games again. That sells season tickets a lot better then having only five home games.

But 5-game season tickets cost less than 7 games. Our AD is trying to save the fans money - and the torture of having to sit through two more games. Bless his heart!

RE: MAC Schedule Released
12 teams, 20 weekday games, 16 weekday non-Black Friday games, 4 on that day.

I think the issue is the math doesn't add up to treat all teams equal.

12 teams each playing 3 games only gives you 18 games.

11 at 3 one at 4 only gets you to 37.... 10 at 3 2 at 4, 38.....9 at 3, 2 at 4 39.

8 at 3, 4 at 4 is 1st option to get you to 40.But then the rotating days of week comes in, although at least it would make sense for the 4 at 3 play on Black Friday. But then again there's "kids want to home."

I guess it could be worse than 4. I just realized Toledo and Ohio each play FIVE weekday games.04-jawdrop

Only the MAC would agree to a contract without thinking out balanced number, or a way to get close to one. 5/5/4/4/4/4/4/4/2/2/1/1 is ridiculous.

Then again, they really don't care.

I believe the Nebraska series was originally one at Soldier Field and three in Lincoln. Nebraska bought us out of the soldier Field game, gave us approximately $1M for that, and an additional ~1M for the first game in Lincoln. So we have received ~$2M for playing one game at Nebraska so far.

This year, we would have had six home games with Idaho and Utah OOC. However, the athletic department was in dire financial straits. They were able to push that out and get $1.6M for the game at FSU, including an immediate ~$0.5M payment that helped keep the athletic department from significant layoffs.

I’d like to have more home games, but I understand the athletic department has to do what they have to do to keep the athletic department afloat.

We did have 5 weekday games last year. And if it weren’t for the BYU game on Oct 27 being on a Saturday, we may well have had a conference game on Thursday Oct. 25 like we did last year.

I wouldn't really count Black Friday (vs. that Saturday) but still scary to see a 6.

9 weekday games in in MAC in 2 years, 21 in 5 years w/o Black Friday home.

Have to go back to 2013 for less than 4 weekday games.

Crazy when you go back and look at CMU and seeing 3,2 in recent years, EMU multiple times 1 in addition to the 1 this year. I guess ESPN wants NIU, Toledo that bad and MAC is happy to hand us over.

Their should be a simple ESPN $ adjustment by the MAC based on the number of weekday games each school is saddled with.

We need out of the MAC. Hope a reasonable opportunity magically arises soon.

Don't be surprised with a contract extension. Maybe when you're 76 we'll be done with this.

The good thing is that I hope they realize that's it's completely stupid to expand a stadium for the <10K that will attend the games. Thus, any money generated for stadium improvements can go into conservative upgrades/improvements of what is there now.

In the heady years leading up to and right after the Orange Bowl I was in favor of stadium expansion so we would eventually be ready for the BIG 12 and also so we could lure bigger programs for home games.

At this point Messrs Carey and Frazier have done so much damage to the program that we are now better off spending the money on stadium improvements and forgoing expansion.

Too bad, I hate it when my delusions of grandeur are dashed.
