Well, hey, opportunity for a big win!

We don't want to get ahead of ourselves but:

1) EMU 2-0 vs MW Wyoming with their 1st Rd QB so we will not be intimidated by SDSU
2) SDSU seemingly has a very good QB similar to Woodside (maybe not as good as Logan)
3) Their DL is small compared to FBS standards (265 lbs). Maybe we can over power them in the 4th qtr and run the ball.
4) Their OL has not seen a pass rush from Crosby/Harris..

5) This could be a nicer opportunity for a win if our offense comes ready to play.

Yes, but SDSU > WYO.

This should be interesting if we can stop their running. SDSU has had some EXCELLENT RBs over the last few years. I had hoped that Penney would end up with the Lions in the 2nd round, but he went 1st round.

Should be a very interesting game.

For lack of a better place, I'm putting this here:

We play at Minnesota in 2023. Guarantee is a cool $1.4 million. http://www.fbschedules.com/2018/04/minne...igan-2023/

Looks like it was announced early last month. Don't know how we (I?) missed it.

Thanks for posting Frank! This reflects the Creighton/Spears philosophy of just one payday game against the Power 5 each season and home and home with other mid-majors. The Kentucky deal of two away for one home is over in 2020 and that one could produce a decent crowd in Ypsilanti with Kentucky being reasonably proximate.

Most of all the Gragg's Army commitment will be over in 2020 as well. Army is just too physical, I would rather play a glamour team and get drilled on the scoreboard than have to prepare against the veer and have my D-Line subjected to all those cut blocks.

This is the type of information that so many people reading the Free Press or MLive just don't understand. I get it that they are butt hurt that some sports got cut, but the reality is that football is King. When is the last time that wrestling pulled in 1.4 million dollars for a meet?

And EMU gets 200k per year from Adidas. That wouldn't happen without football. So there's that.

Does Adidas provide all the uniforms for all EMU sports free or a discount as part of that contract?

I think it is a discount.

I might be wrong, but some of the 'big boys' might get unis and money back. I'm thinking of that school with winged helmets on the other side of U.S. 23.

This article actually pertains to the 2018 schedule. Toledo and Akron from the MAC and SDSU from the MWC.

MWC is good with two teams, Boise and SDSU, top 25 caliber.

More like a rebate. Once EMU purchases a set dollar amount of goods, then Addidas proves a bunch of free gear. This is one reason the FB and MBB teams have so many uni combos--to get over the rebate threshold.

Thanks!! And, of course, anyone knows how sales and merchandising is trending these days: BOGO

So it is kind of like BOGO x 2 (buy 2 and get 2 more free or whatever the exact numbers are).

Once again, I don't think EMU athletics is spending like a bunch of drunk sailors. There are usually explanations for things which may seem wasteful, etc.

I doubt anyone on this forum was a sports intern at EMU last year and knows the inner workings of sports administration.

Just like Michigan did with basketball, when they paid us 100k to drive seven miles down the road and beat them in their own gym. That's why they play the games, and they aren't decided by groaners on a message board.

Sir, you do realize that both Pudue and SDSU are higher rated teams for 2018 than is Minnesota?

Minnesota is a good team but it is in the class of a Toledo, not teams like OSU, PSU, etc.

The guy just doesn't get it. But let him keep whining, and showing what a fool he is. I'm sure he said the same thing about Rutgers and Kentucky. Can you imagine how miserable it must be for his wife and family to deal with on a daily basis. 03-lmfao

Just like uofm in basketball? I think we've played more than two dozen times and we have two wins.

Nobody in a P5 conference schedules us because they want a competitive game. They schedule us because it's an almost certain win.

I don't know why you make this personal, ET. It's immature.

This is the type of information that so many people reading the Free Press or MLive just don't understand. I get it that they are butt hurt that some sports got cut, but the reality is that football is King. When is the last time that wrestling pulled in 1.4 million dollars for a meet?

They're paying us to be practice dummies. It's not something to be proud of.

Just like Michigan did with basketball, when they paid us 100k to drive seven miles down the road and beat them in their own gym. That's why they play the games, and they aren't decided by groaners on a message board.

The guy just doesn't get it. But let him keep whining, and showing what a fool he is. I'm sure he said the same thing about Rutgers and Kentucky. Can you imagine how miserable it must be for his wife and family to deal with on a daily basis. 03-lmfao

Hopefully we find a way to win 8 games...
