I don't want to talk out of turn but this has to be the first time ever in our history that expenses are greater than revenues, isn't it? Also, keep in mind that the numbers listed are for 2017 when we sold 9,622 tickets per game; which is 3,600 more than we will sell this year, which is more than we will sell next year.

This year's numbers are going to be even more of a bloodbath.

i went back in the ncaa records thru 1978 and the lowest average memphis attendance is 8163 in 1979 with yates coaching and a losing record of 13-15 at the msc, so 6000+ would be a historically bad number, a ‘Fireable Offense’

The best you will ever get out of Tubby is like 24-10.

The worst you would ever get out of Penny is 20-14.

Despite the fact that both teams were on long losing streaks and had significant parts of their team missing. Winning these last two road games saved his job for another year.

It depends on who gets his way and three things:

1. Recruiting
2. Recruiting
3. Recruiting

The guys who hired Tubbs will want to ignore the overall results of this 'building year'.

But they won't be able to ignore recruiting results with two lame assistants sitting on the bench and Tubby not budging on making that better.

RE: Are we pretty much on board that Tubby is back next year?
Actually Tubby hasn't won more than 23 games since 2004-2005.

That's a long time.

He hasn't won more than 19 since 2012-2013.

Penny would have to totally fail to match those numbers.

And understand, I am saying Penny's worst is what Tubby is giving year in, year out.

Penny's best?

I think he can win a National Championship.

And we would be making tournament runs in two years.

And make the tournament NEXT year.

Only a fool would bring Tubby back to further sink the program.

Houston loses three of top five scorers, including Rob Gray.

UCF might be strong, assuming they get Tacko back. Only lose AJ Davis.

We'll see what Milton decides to do at SMU.

Cinci loses their 2nd and 3rd leading scorers.

ECU, USF, and Tulane will still suck.

Who knows what UConn will field next year.

So are you saying we should ride it out with the tub? or get someone else in asap?

No. He's saying that we will have an easy schedule, and probably be a around a bubble team that might cause us to keep Tubby long term. Which he doesn't want.

A BUBBLE team?

For what?

Just from a outsider's view, it seems impossible to can someone who goes 19-13 and 19-14 in back to back years. And if Memphis beats UConn, they are looking at a 20 win season.

Going 19-14 nets Memphis a 128 rpi (projected). Not anywhere CLOSE to NIT.

Put it this way, Memphis could win their last four regular season games, then beat ECU, then Houston, then lose to WSU in the AAC semis for a 22-12 record and that STILL only gets them to 89 in the RPI--which still is about as low as the NIT takes at-large.

So, they will need to win six in a row just to get on the bubble.

The NIT bubble.

Next Year. They should have a similar team without the early season mishaps.

Maybe we need a better OCS. I doubt it look at Houston this year.

Does it matter that boosters are not renewing...? Lower level ticket fans are exiting?

I guess we will see what BB attendance and the big seat donations are worth to our Admin.

Unless Tubby dies or takes another job, he will 100% be the coach next year. What part of we don't have the money is so hard to understand? And university President's sphincters are tightening all over the country with the FBI going nuclear on college hoops. Tubby is a pretty safe place to be for a couple of seasons.

Read the CA article today on athletic finances, and come back if you still think we'll pay $9.75M to make a coach go away 2 years into a 5 year contract after two winning seasons.

Lol, he was making his opinion know and that makes him clueless? tough crowd this week, Stammers.

AA being paid $25K to be an assistant coach, and 90% chance that Tubby is fired is dumb. Opinions can be dumb. And he's always been clueless.

Clueless? You still insist that we sold more tickets last year than we did in 2016 and you think Tubby is safe because he has had two winning seasons.

We had higher attendance last year vs. the year before. People lost interest. Win games and people will show up.

Higher attendance, less tickets sold, less tickets sold this year from last year, and even less tickets sold next year if Tubby is around.

I will renew my season tickets for another 30 plus years when Penny or equally capable coach who can get the players, teach them to win, and make us a top tier team again.

So, what you are saying (like most others on here), is that you're a Tiger fan/supporter...when they are a top tier program, but not a Tiger fan when they are not.

You think it's all about where we are now, but it's not.

It's the future of Tiger BB that is the most worrisome.

edit: There is a downward trend. It's based on more than stats and his ridiculous quotes. Tubby's refusal to move his son into a more suitable position (in the face of horrendous recruiting results) speaks loudest to some.

So people don’t go to games because they are worried about the future? It’s about today.

It’s simple, the fan base kept the faith for many years after Cal left. Too many subpar seasons and they’ve lost interest. It’s understandable.

People have already lost interest in the Grizzlies and they’ve only been horrible for one year.

If the team wins again, people will come back. Not sure if Tubby can do it, but I hope he can. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not about Tubby, it’s about the team being good again.

Still gotta say I love this team! They give a hell of an effort and earned my season ticket renewal.
