huh, they started experiencing losses right around the time Groupon and that crazy took off. While it does sound like a corporate takeover, i'm leaning more towards the idea that restaurant.com's bubble bursting right around the time they hired a lawyer to be CEO of a tech firm.

Chessick has been a good friend to NIU, hope he weathers this well.

Tell the Restaurant.com board that we're still willing to sell them the naming rights to the Convo, 5 mil for 12 years. Nothing brings a stock back up like Mac-venue branding.

Makes sense. And maybe they could sell naming rights to Kraft. Put a giant MAC and cheese box on the Convo roof.

I worked for that company for a while and this is a real shame, they have lots of employees who will be out on the street if this company folds.

How sad, sounds like he was in over his head in a business he did not understand. I hope that he did not do anything illegal.

OSU had a marketing professor, author and highly sucessful consultant who served on many boards named Roger Blackwell who funded the construction of a beautiful on campus hotel and visitors center that bears his name. Roger went to prison for insider trading. He was passing along stock tips to friends to feed his ego and to cement his status as a big shot.
