MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said on Monday he had asked the Spanish government and Pope Francis to apologize to indigenous Mexicans for wrongs committed during the Spanish conquest some 500 years ago.
Lopez Obrador said in a video shared on Facebook and Twitter he had written to Spain’s King Felipe VI about the matter.
“I already sent a letter to the king of Spain and another letter to the Pope so that they ask forgiveness of indigenous peoples for violations of what are now known as human rights,” he said.

I hope the King andPope tell him to frack off. Otherwise it just encourages this crap and next it’ll be some kind of idiocy like “reparations” garbage.
Did these “indigenous people” crawl out of the ocean and plop down on the local beach? If not, they were interlopers too.

Mayans were Central America, but I concur with your point (Aztecs were in Mexico). There were over 60 different indigenous and hundreds of different dialects of languages spoken in Mexico prior to the arrival of the conquistadors.
Another question, has the President of America asked the decedents of the Aztecs for an apology? That culture sacrificed untold number of victims, mostly children, in unspeakable manner. Victims often had their hearts removed and eaten, were burned at the take, beheaded, sliced, drawn and quartered, etc.

Correct. The Aztecs had been tormenting them for a century with not only sacrifice, but by putting them into slave labor. They saw the Spaniards has great liberators, and joined them in fight against the Aztecs (remember, the Spaniards did not have enough warriors on their own to take down the Aztec army).
