Purdue.

#50 is Caleb Swanigan. Plays for Portland in the NBA. Purdue found a way to make it happen the first year after he left school.

Cough ... cough.

Marcus has been out of school how long now?

And when it happens, let's hope we all know about it way in advance, unlike the Bill Chambers event.

Swanigan had actually been playing in the G League for Canton, with Marcus, before getting called back up two weeks ago....and Swanigan only played two years for Purdue, with no degree yet. Marcus stayed all four years for his degree, has been loyally promoting W&M from day one, and still is.

Retiring Marcus' jersey is a no brainer, and not only deserved by Marcus to happen now rather than later, but would have much more of an impact on recruiting and the program if it happened now.

Purdue is soft. They probably retired Brees' number, too.

The Athletic Dept has tried many times over the past three years to set a specific date for Marcus' number retirement during the season, but so far no luck as Marcus has had conflicting games in the B League or was in Australia/Europe playing.

They can't firm up next season as our schedule is yet to be set and won't be until the summer and Marcus doesn't know where he'll be playing, so this may take a good long while.

It's nobody's fault...just the way it is.

Glad to hear it's been in the works.
