This is great news. Now we need to do the same in football and basketball. Well, football anyway.

Southern Miss Baseball Sets Season Tickets Sold Record

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – As Southern Miss baseball opens its season today , the program is already off to a great start for 2018 with a record number of season tickets sold for the upcoming campaign.

Season ticket numbers for Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field, the program’s home since the 1984 campaign, has gone over 1,700 sold. The best previous mark of 1,482 came during the 2013 season.

“It’s a testament to our fans and our team,” said Stephen Pugh, Southern Miss Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations. “Our fans have really gotten behind our team and committed their support to the program. Coach Scott Berry has built the program into one of the top ones in the country and you can feel the excitement around the team.”

“Our fans have really gotten behind our team and committed their support to the program,” said Stephen Pugh, Southern Miss Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations. “Coach Scott Berry has built Southern Miss Baseball into one of the top programs in the country and you can feel the excitement around the team.”

Under the ninth-year coach, the Golden Eagles look to continue its successful campaign last spring that saw them collect a 50-16 record – establishing a school mark for most victories in a season – a Conference USA regular season crown and an opportunity to play host to only their second ever NCAA regional.

Season tickets still remain available for the 2018 season without the Mississippi State series and fans can go to SouthernMissTickets.com, call 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or visit the Pat Ferlise Center from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., weekdays for more information or to purchase tickets.

The Golden Eagles open the season with the Mississippi Farm Bureau Classic, a three-game sold out series with Mississippi State at Pete Taylor Park. Game times for the series at 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 16, and 1 p.m., both Saturday, Feb. 17, and Sunday, Feb. 18.

That number will probably jump more after the 11-0 win over miss state.

Baseball is the #2 in Hattiesburg. I'd argue it *generally* has been for the past 15-20 years.
