This is from Indiana's website from the game preview:

• The Hoosiers enter the week ranked in five polls. IU is ranked 12th by Collegiate Baseball, 14th by D1Baseball.com, 15th by the NCBWA, 15th by Perfect Game, and 18th by Baseball America

Terrific win over a ranked B10 team on their home field. Bearcat baseball is rising.

RE: 2018 Bearcat Baseball Thread
Baseball is definitely looking up, and from what I've heard from former colleagues, the team, administration, and staff are all quite happy with the change at the top.

Not taking one game away from Sam Houston really hurts the RPI, but I'll take 7-5 with multiple games against Top 50 teams so far.

Wow. Do you think college baseball has enough ranking systems?

Regardless, I'd claim this as a signature win for Bearcat Baseball over a highly regarded opponent. Disappointed there was no highlight package available from either school or the B10 network.

B10 network isn't going to highlight one of the anointed few being drubbed by an AAC team. Especially one which is located in the same region.

Except for that brutal trip to Storrs, I would much rather play baseball in the AAC than the B10. Houston, Tulane, South Florida, Central Florida even East Carolina: all provide a better weather experience to play baseball. The same goes for C*USA with FIU, FAU, LaTech, Rice, ...

Agreed. Baseball is different. A lot great college baseball outside of the P5.

Glad to see the program doing well. Was excited about the change from Brian, but the new guy didn’t seem to mesh with much that is UC administration

UC was swept by Tennessee. The Bearcats were in every game but they can't get the clutch hit when they need it.

UC swept last place Memphis this weekend.

UC is 6-3 and tied for first in the AAC with Houston, and 15-14 overall.

UC lost 2 of 3 at UCF but is still tied for first in the AAC,

They are 7-5 in the AAC and 17-17 overall.

I know it's early, but is it reasonable to expect this team to make the postseason?

I've only had a chance to catch one of the games against Memphis but the Bearcats looked very good that day. And the win at Indiana was impressive.

My sense is Bohn hired very well and baseball is headed in the right direction.

Honestly, no...they haven't played the bulk of the AAC's big boys yet (still have 12 games against UConn, Wichita State, ECU, and USF who are all RPI Top 25's...all would be the highest ranked teams we have played this season). If we can finish around .500 with this team, I'm extremely confident we made the right move and that Googins has a chance to turn this program around too....but this is kind of a ranking based on a scheduling abnormality at the moment. We have played the 3 worst teams besides us by RPI in our conference and that's why we are where we are at the moment....we'll probably end up middle of the pack, which makes sense.

Baseball... the one sport where the AAC was a big upgrade from the Big East.

I think most were picking UC to be dead last, so I'd say a middle of the pack finish is a pretty good finish.
