Two things...there were more students at the Cincy game than the WSU game. Also, we have more history with Cincy and have hardly ever beaten them so the win meant a little bit more.

im not saying cincy is bad, youre an elite team...but if we are talking shot a national title/final 4 their are question marks...the tools are there

cincy has set up a great defensive system that demolishes lesser teams..but after the first round, there aren't any lesser teams ..everyone will punch back...
blowing out everyone might actually be hurting uc in the long run, no one is being forced to step up

cincy didn't score a FG for 12 mins, you can say houston was "fouling" but not 1 fool was egregious or violent or that hard or really even preventing you from shooting ..not a single foul on houston tonight would be called in a pick up game. that was the kind of contact you should be able to play through ...

people where making jokes about gray not scoring much, but gary clark was guarding him (arguably the best defender in the league)...evans was guard by gray..gray is a good defender not that good..he made 3 fgs all game

hoping the wichita gives cincy a game to make someone for them step up...yes your defense is elite but you arent winning title or final 4 on that alone..someone will find a way to score and you will need to punch back

People have been clamoring for Evans to be that guy. I would agree that we need someone who can step up and score. Evans has to be the guy if we actually want to be an 'elite' team, which I don't think we are as of this moment. His stat line looks fine, but so much of that was late in the game. He can't wait til that moment to step up.

The 12 minutes without a FG thing is overblown. I think there were something like 21 possessions in that time, and UC was fouled on 11 of them. That is obviously going to make it tough to make a FG, though being cold and not being able to create a bucket still played a part. That stretch wasn't like some we've had in past years where we literally couldn't score points.

I'm not of the mind that losing last night was brutal for UC. Losing is never good, but if you can learn from it and use it to get better, you can make the best of it. UC needed to get punched in the mouth a bit, and I hope they use it to improve because they really have the ability to do big things if they can play at the top of their game.

Indeed. If you wanted a court storming against WSU you would have had to coordinate with thousands of Shocker fans. That would have been awkward.

For whatever reason the offense bogs down and looks atrocious on the road. Houston obviously had a lot to do with that last night as they were great defensively, but this isn't a new problem for UC under Cronin. Usually they are able to squeak it out on the road because UC has superior athletes and played harder, but it seemed Houston got to every loose ball in the 2nd half last night.

Evans is a really good player (although this stretch of games has shown he needs another year) but he isn't a break you down off the dribble type of guy. Don't get me wrong, he can get to the hoop but it's usually off of swinging the ball and defensive rotations. Last night Cronin decided to just put it in Evans hands and run the high post rubs and pick and rolls. It didn't work and Cronin didn't adjust.

It would also help if UC could hit a jump shot. They literally did not make a jump shot the last 35 minutes of the game until Evans hit one with a second left when it didn't matter. On the Houston side, Davis (who is a phenomenal shooter) hit multiple contested threes and Brooks knocked in a few as well. Robinson even banged in a long jumper. When both teams are playing very good defense, it's usually the team that shoots better on jump shots that wins. Although I need to qualify that by saying that Davis and Brooks are better shooters than anything UC has, especially with this recent cold streak from Evans.

I thought they stormed not because it was a good team but it cemented invite to the tourney. I think they would have stormed usf it it meant that win put them in the same position. So throw away the measuring tape and put it back in your pants.

I'm going to give you a 7 out of 10 for that spin attempt.

Gives more credibility as to why we didn't storm the wsu game with a team of similar stature and it's also harder to disprove. And more importantly it deflates egos.
