God bless Monty, but he has to go. Hoping for a coaching change as soon as possible and a new name on the Convo in 2018!

I see Eugene & Levi are getting close to that 1,000 point barrier.
When is the last time we had a 1,000 point scorer? Silas? Before him?
Talk about the well running dry.

Sonny Armstead two years ago. Marin & Bowie May have gotten 1000+ If they didn’t transfer. German and Bradley will certainly score 1000+

RE: MBB vs CMU
The one thing NIU and Monty have going for them next year is German has a real chance to be player of the year, first team All-Mac. Bradley likely first team or second next year. Thorpe likely third team or honorable mention and Jaylen Key could be third team or honorable mention. German a 20pt scorer. Bradley a 16pt scorer, Thorpe a 13-14pt scorer and Key a 10pt scorer. That’s as good as any other MAC team will do next year. In all likelihood Monty will be the coach, they won’t be young and if people can stay healthy it will be do or your fired! Huskies were picked to finish last in MAC West and to win 12 games. Looks like it’s right on.

I think this is right. The whole team is back next year plus Key will return and presumably the young guys will improve some. By the looks of it they SHOULD be pretty good next year. As noted above it will be Monty's do or die year.

Is there some new stud Freshman recruit coming on board next year also? Thought I remember a thread earlier stating a strong recruit coming in.

You will not get those point totals out of those four players every night.
If they did get them and the other team makes 15 threes we lose.
Monty should have went after every player who makes threes. Game as changed and the team should be shooting 40 a night.

Who picked them to win 12 games?
Monty will be the coach because NIU can't afford to buy him out and SF was foolish enough to have extended him when it wasn't deserved. Since Monty's arrival and your love affair with him began, you've predicted All-MAC recognition for different players and it didn't happen; you've forecast future points per game and it hasn't happened; you've envisioned NIU as a contender and all that's happened is seven years of "we're young .... need to develop chemistry .... potential ... etc." Of course you've also said this year that the team is just a big man (ala Maric) away from major success. Now you're promising "they won't be young" next season but adding the same caveat that every program in the country can say every year -- "if people can stay healthy." There isn't another Division I program in America let alone in the MAC that would have tolerated this much mediocrity.

German has scored 19 and above almost every game but no they won’t score this numbers every nite. Thomas, James, DAOW, Justin Lee will have a few good scoring nights. Akron has taken the most 3’s 28 a game making 9.8 and they are in last place. Huskies will have more attempts next year as German is getting better at it and Key and Justin Lee will shoot several. I do agree that the 3pt shot will win you several games. Huskies desperately need a 6’10 guy that can make a layup and rebound and block a few shots.

You've just, inadvertently, made the best argument one can make for Monty to go. At this point in his tenure, without any serious success, his team was picked to finish last.

If that doesn't get a guy fired, nothing will.

Yep, there are many reasons, including the less than 1,000 attendance for almost every game. NIU basketball has become an afterthought for most people. But the reasons keeping him here are the lack of money and STF being such a sweetheart of a guy.

STF needs to hold another banquest called "Defeat Ball" were all money goes toward buying out coaches.
You can hold it on April 1st.

Huh the Huskies have a 7 foot freshman who is shooting one of the best percentages on the team (believe that is called making shots), can block shots (when he doesn't have to help when one of the guards or wings gets burnt), and rebounding will come when he plays more than five minutes a game. His name is Hamilton. Not to mention another 7 footer (Zellis). You put James and Hamilton's statistics into per 36, which is a better predictor of how both would play with a heavy minute load, and Hamilton's is better by far. IMO it's crazy he hasn't gotten more playing time.

And don't say he's not ready yet if you haven't watched practices, etc.

When can I sign up and pay my $1,000/person ticket price?

Ballfan92, I hope you’re kidding about Owen Hamilton! He is not ready for much more than 5-minutes a game. Needs to get much stronger and find a way to get quicker. He is not the answer at center and will not be next year either.

Ballfan92, are you seriously trying to say Monty has a stud big in Owen Hamilton and just isn’t playing him? Once and for all, Monty and the coaches want to win ten times more than any of us!

222 I do think owen has good footwork and yes when he puts on some muscle he will be a good inside force. Hopefully next year.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monty ought to, he's getting paid 100,000 times more than most of the people who have watched all the losses during his tenure. If not for STF's lack of judgement in unannounced extensions and the athletic department's woeful financial status, Monty should be gone.

Uniu57, why does the Athletic Dept have a woeful financial status? I mean I have been giving them 3,000 for many years in a row now.

If Frazier and the Board of trustees and President feel Monty should be let go at the end of this season that will happen. Money will not stop that from happening if that’s what they feel is best.
