Article has Simiuc finishing behind Jepkirui with a time that is one second faster. Wish someone would proof these things.

Assuming this is official (race just ended a few minutes ago) the UT men finished 9th (last) in the conference championship. Women's race starts soon. Here's a link to the men's results.

Looks like the UT women finished second. Men's results and women's results at the same link. You'll need to page down to see the women's results.

Second place showing for the women. Strong improvement from the last couple years. Janelle Noe was the second Rocket across the finish line and 15th overall. Athena Welsh placed 10th.

What an incredible story re: Noe. She really wasn't posting great times this year and to finish like that? Wow! So happy for her.

RE: UT men's and women's cross country 2017
Was reported on twitter that UT recruit Alyssa Edwards won her XC sectional race in personal and course record time. This site indicates she took 1st in her conference, 2nd in regionals and 1st in sectional, shaving 50 seconds off her time over those 3 races. I'll leave it up to the experts to say how good those times are ... the races are in miles after all.

RE: UT men's and women's cross country 2017
I have absolutely no idea why there is no story up on the utrockets website, but there have been a series of tweets about NLI signees for UT XC and track. I will see if I can find them all. Most all are XC/distance.

Alyssa Edwards, Yorkville, IL
Claire Steigerwald, Gahanna, OH
Rebecca Snyder, Oley PA
Casey Reed, Blissfield MI
Megan Burmeister, Bowsher
Rayna Horner, Covington, OH (track, 200/400)
Grace Steimle, Orwell, OH

I think that's all. The tweets have PRs and such listed, but they are in images, and I'm too lazy to copy that all here. Have to wait for a story on the website.

UT women 9th (out of 31 teams) at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.

Women's team results -

Women's individual results -

Looks like the UT men only had 3 competitors, so UT didn't have a team score.

Another NLI annouced on twitter (ok, for track not XC, but still...)

Sprinter Shanice Williams, Transfer from Western Texas College. was Canadian Junior champ. PR 60m time of 7:48, just shy of 1st in the MAC last year.

Hope she stays longer than the Polish sprinter did.

One meet, one school record. Not sure if she ever attended a class. These two look awfully good. A5'8" HS HJ is pretty good.

Both squads earn academic recognition. And Athena Welsh earns an individual honor. Congratulations.
