Carlson Library Pedestrian Bridge Replacement
I see on the facilities page that the bridge by Carlson Library is getting replaced. Wonder if the new bridge will have that bounce with every step.

RE: Carlson Library Pedestrian Bridge Replacement
In the blade a few weeks back there was a story about the demolition of the train bridge that crosses the Maumee river by the turnpike. There is some history with the bridge and they were looking for people to recycle some of the metal/trusses for other projects. At the time of the story, there were no takers. Might be an interesting upcycle opportunity?

RE: Carlson Library Pedestrian Bridge Replacement
My understanding is that the new library bridge will be very similar in form and structure to the one now located near CPA (but at a higher elevation as CPS bridge is too low and frequently captures debris during higher river levels), and plans are place for FY19 to then replace the east parking garage pedestrian bridge

Yep. It’ll definitely be damper without the bridge. Used to try to spear carp with javelins under there in spawning season. Have some “drunk and stupid” memories, too, but they’re blurry.

Fishing was better upstream at "the beach".

Crossed that bridge hand-over-hand a few times using the electrical conduit. Good pre-Ranger School prep... it's a long way across doing it that way. No splashdowns thank goodness.

Yes it was. One advantage of classes until late May.

Always liked that bridge. Seemed to fit the space well. Tight and narrow, opened up to a great view. Meant to be touched, railing sat on, even graffitied a bit. Old school college. Hope they don't modern the look at all. Maybe some old fashiony lights or something. I don't see how it could be a structural problem. It has to have a few hundred coats of paint giving it stability.
