I'm game for it. If Spectrum wants to cut me a deal because I'm getting their slowest speed, go for it.

Still not a utility.

Then you are a fool. It's not about speed as much as its about access.

I'm a fool. Says the hand that says you can't live without internet.

That's not why your being a fool. I understand your point. But cheering that a company can limit what you have access to is why.

I don't need more than 100 mpbs. If they'll cut me a better deal for that I'm good. My life doesn't revolve around the internet, he said as he posted on an internet message board.

You think everyone should have the same speed for the same price, but sometimes that's not possible so now those people don't get internet. Sometimes Person A can have up to 300 mpbs and Person B can get 50. Is it right A has to be bogged down to 50? That's net neutrality. If A can get up to 300 and only wants 50 and it's cheaper I don't see the issue.

F'n socialism is what you're promoting. I'm sure you're gonna crawfish and say that's not what you meant.

Federal transportation money is pervasive throughout the entire system. You can get 80% federal funding to replace an existing bridge on some BFE gravel road. It doesn't have to be an interstate. Most states, counties and townships fund their bridges that way.

You can get federal funding to redo an intersection. Look up CMAQ funds for example.

Once there is a single federal dollar in a project, the whole project, design and construction, has to follow the federal process. It is burdensome.

Even if you don't have federal money in a project, you might still be talking to the Army Corps or Fish and Wildlife to get permits.

I'm not justifying it. Heck, I don't agree with it. But this IS today.

Don’t disagree with any of what you’ve said.

But, local(sic) MANAGEMENT, oversight, planning, incentivizing can move things along a lot faster and more efficiently than top down. I’ve got a number of good friends doing quite well, by doing good work, on time and on budget.

I would rather see the projects under local control. But you have to cut off the drug of federal money. Then the states need to raise taxes to make up for the difference. That is a difficult argument, because the local politicians are typically gutless.

There is no reason to send taxes to Washington, have 20% or whatever skimmed off for handling, and then us be happy 80% is returned to a state. It is stupid.

JMUDunk Wrote:They have to follow all the rules and regulations, of course, but decentralizing and privatizing the actual work, that’s when you see 8 guys working, not 2 working and 6 guys holding down shovels...

That really has nothing to do with the present conversation. Private contractors already build the vast majority of public works projects. If they have 2 guys working and 6 holding down shovels, the owner is losing money and won't be in business for long.

To the latter, Not what I was saying/implying.

By decentralizing and privatizing the contracts you DO see the 8(?) guys working. In the days of massive V-DOT budgets and/or the few sites of the zerO shovel ready jobs (lol) make work programs, there would be more guys standing around watching the few actually do work. Lot of so-called “supervisors” it seemed.

We’re in agreement here.

That's not Socialism. Your just talking about speeds. Which is just one of the issues. Another issue is site promoting. Your internet provider without net neutrality could sign a deal with Yahoo as its preferred browser. You on the other hand prefer Bing. But Bing lags because they didn't win the bid to the preferred browser. Like Fox news? The sight is slowed because MSNBC won the bid. No one should be allowed to censor what you already pay for.

When I shut down your points you crawfish to another one.

You know before 2015 we didn't have net neutrality. I don't remember any issues, why in 2018 all of a sudden will it be issues?

I stand corrected. But again I don't recall having any issues. I don't recall my internet being throttled I really haven't seen much difference.

And now reading the article it's only talking about Netflix and Bit torrent. Not what you stated about using search engines, etc. So your argument is you won't be able to watch 20 hours of Breaking Bad at a time or download Illegal music.

Pretty simple reasoning... The federal government will give you this much money but you need to pony up the rest for this highway that resides in your state...

Hey the dems in Minnesota are always trying to build bullion dollar trains "cause the govt is giving some of the money".. But when Trump proposes it they act like a vampire at a garlic farm.

let's not forget this guy that will soon be forgotten.....got to give ol' boy credit.....#marketinggenius

I don't know bud, I bought one of those and now sleep like a baby. I wouldn't trade it for any other pillow I've ever owned, even my little Smoky the Bear pillow I had as a child.

trust me from someone that only sleeps in spurts with a hyperactive brain, I wasn't downing the product.....was only pointing out the product is so good for some, that in less than a year, you now get 2 for 1 ....

like I mentioned, marketing genius.....there's nothing better than clean sheets and a perfect pillow.....

anything that works for anyone to get good sleep is 03-thumbsup in my book.....and I've tried 'em all....

I can't remember the last time I got more than four continuous hrs.....unfortunately, it runs in my familia....my grandmother/grandfather on my father's side were the same as they aged and NEVER drank a drop.....

sleep deprivation is truly a 'nightmare'....

My argument is that if we allow them to start. Then they will never stop. So why let them start.

So let me get this straight. Internet is a utility cause you'll need it for everything, but now it'll be "restricted" because of net neutrality. I explained that not everyone has it and fiber was ran a mile from my parents and stopped and they don't have it, however thanks to the repeal they'll probably have it pulled now.

Then you've said that they'll restrict it and likened to the power company dimming my lights. I've explained how it'll open up speeds and offer packages. You've stated it's not fair, and I said I wasn't all for everyone paying the same price for the same apeed. I was a called a fool.

Now you're claiming they'll sell out and tell you what sites you can and can't go to. Your examples are three articles talking about Netflix and Bit Torrent. But you're saying it won't stop there.

Dude. If anyone is a fool it's you Chicken Little. Me thinks you want everyone to have the same and it scares you that your neighbor may have faster and better than you for cheaper and he'll be able watch more movies than you.
