Gotta love this quote from the App preview:

Quote:Almost literally overnight, Appalachian State became the class of the Sun Belt. It was the most impressive FCS-to-FBS jump since Marshall’s.

And this from the A-State preview:
https://www.sbnation.com/2018/2/15/16999...ule-roster

It’s hard to find a Sun Belt team with more upside than ASU. Troy and Appalachian State, the two other members of last year’s upper tier, both return enough play-makers to make a conference title run, but on a play-for-play basis, no one in this league is more dangerous than Anderson’s Red Wolves.

ASU plays like a lit firecracker, but sometimes those things blow up in your hand. If the Red Wolves can rein the volatility in just a tad, their schedule could be conducive to lots of wins. They avoid Troy on the conference slate, and Appalachian State comes to Jonesboro.

S&P+ favors them in 11 of 12 games and gives them at least a 67 percent chance of winning in 10 of them. If Hansen’s mistakes are dialed down just a hair, and if they allow, say, one fewer 20-yarder per game, an 11-1 finish is very much on the table. This is Anderson’s chance at an enormous season; if he’s been saving up those good breaks and happy close-game finishes, now would be the time to spend them.

ArkSt is the class of the conference and the jump only happens for two years...No doubt #2 for now.

Hey man you think that is easy for me to say? They have been the most consistent in winning and recruiting. If they would just fix that OOC thing that would end all debate.

I'm not debating you, they're good teams. Just a friendly reminder that Troy is 2-0 vs both aforementioned "class of the league" teams in our last meetings. Maybe it's time a for a new, but familiar, sheriff.

That is quite the selective analysis . . . stAte doubled Troy in yardage and lost in the last seconds of the game . . . let's not act like Troy was dominant.

There's nothing selective (or subjective) about a win. In fact, it's completely binary in every way, and objective in every sense of the word. Selective is pointing out a completely arbitrary "total yards" metric. What Troy does well is what people often brush off as irrelevant. We dominated ARKST in the red zone, where it mattered.

Troy was 1st nationally in red zone defense by a wide margin and 2nd in rush defense nationally. Troy's Blace Brown is the NCAA active leader in interceptions and Troy's Marcus Jones is a Freshman All-American return man.

The consensus from many ARKST fans is that you guys just crapped the bed, completely ignoring the above as if Hansen's picks were all on him with no credit to Troy's ball-hawking secondary. Run game was just bad all year despite Troy's dominance against the run even against LSU. It was just bad coverage despite Troy having an All-American return man.

No, Troy did not dominate ARKST, but a silly total yards metric means nothing. Our ability to be solid in so many other aspects won us the game because our team focused on more than just moving the ball between the 20s. You out-gained MTSU by over 100 yards and that didn't work out well either.

A win's a win, my friend.

The only reason you're hanging onto that two year transition period BS is because GS went to **** right after those two years. A splashy first season doesn't mean anything if you can't sustain the success.

I'll take three bowl wins and two conference rings over a flash in the pan entrance to the Sun Belt any day.

It wasn't a flash in the pan. It was the perfect example of an AD not making the right decisions, then doubling down on it after the experiment was shown to be a failure. We had a lot of the same players in place from the 14/15 run in 2016 and they were just completely wasted.

We were lucky enough to find a HC that brought us through the transition with a good group of core players (like you've had since 2014) and maintained the level of success we'd had with the previous staff.

App of all people should know that we have our ups and downs, but we have never been what one would call a flash in the pan.

All of us would hope to have the kind of stability you've had in your program that has helped contribute to your success. This will be the first year you've had to deal with massive experience turnover as well as replacing some significant losses on your coaching staff.

That being said, I'd argue that App is on pace to be better than Marshall's transition. The only thing that Marshall really beats you at is winning the conference and making bowl game in their first year so far, but the latter is impossible to do now with the transition rules.

You have to pay attention to who is posting certain things. This guy is starting to ruffle quite a few feathers on our board with stuff like this.
