If it comes down to Notre Dame and Middle TN St., who are they going to pick?
Houston's lucky they're finishing strong or they'd have been a prime candidate to make room for the leprechauns.
Houston? The Cougars are fighting for somewhere between a 4 and 7 seed the next two days. The only thing holding them off the protected seed line is two bad losses and a non-conference SOS in the 200's which is exactly where Michigan and Michigan State's non conference SOS is ranked. 9-4 against the top two groups is really good. Their top wins include Cincinnati, Wichita State, Providence, and Arkansas.

I have them as a 5 right now. Their tier 1 tier 2 metrics compare favorably to other protected seeds. I dock them a line because of a couple bad losses.

Same here. They might just land in Dallas anyway depending on where they seed Texas Tech. I tend to view the American's top three and the Big Ten's top four teams as clustered in the 2 through 6 range right now. The American was smart enough to schedule their best teams against each other multiple times while the Big Ten didn't which is why their teams might not sniff the 1 or 2 line. I can't figure out why the Big Ten didn't schedule Michigan State and Purdue twice, that seems like a no brainer. Not only that they didn't give the Spartans repeat games against Michigan and Ohio State which are the two biggest rivals in the league. Rutgers, Illinois, Maryland, Indiana, and Wisconsin were the Spartans repeat opponents. Maybe Wisconsin and Indiana can justified based on tradition. Just a horrible job by the Big Ten this season, they essentially gave their national title favorite Gonzaga's profile.

RE: Bracketology
I think the committee makes us a 2 with a win, a 3 with a loss in the Championship. (Based on Bracket Committee interviews)
Want that 2 Seed! Would rather be a 2 and face a Auburn 3 or a Michigan State. Michigan and UT both feel too hot right now. Anyone else with a Sweet 16 matchup preference?

Don't know enough bout auburn but i want to avoid sparty. That's a large team. Don't know if we have the depth at the 4/5 to compete

Bracket Tip: Houston
I think the thing to remember about Houston is they are playing really really well in their last 11 games or so. I know the committee has to dock them for a couple bad losses because they happened but what I'm saying is this:
-I believe whatever they are seeded, they are/will play better than the seed they will get. So they will be deceiving in that light no matter who they play. I think they are playing at a 4 seed level but they may get seeded at a 5 or 6. Throw into that they don't have much of a basketball name and they have a player or two who can take over a game and you may be looking at a team that can go on a run.
The factors are favorable for them to make a run.
Keep that in mind when you fill out your bracket.

Any chance with a win we take the 1 seed from Xavier?

Groeshen just tweeted lunardi said if we lose and Tennessee wins they could overtake us for a 2, so no chance at 1.

It's all speculation at this point. We essentially have the same resume as Xavier but they beat us head to head. I think we could be everywhere from the top 2 to the top 3. I think we're most likely locked into a 2 already because i thunk we're ahead of Purdue regardless.

RE: Bracketology
I read on friday that the committee had already selected the 8 teams for the 1-2 seeds so I don't think today's results matter much. Today's games are so late that the selection committee can't make big changes based on the outcomes. They have to have contingency plans if a team wins their way in that wouldn't have already been in but beyond that it's mostly done.
Production wise it has to be pretty much done by early afternoon because the show production — bracket graphics, scripts, remote location set up — have to have time to be completed before showtime. It'd be tricky to wait until the final buzzer of the AAC final to do significant shuffling.
Besides wasn't there a year where the bracket got out ahead of time? Maybe2-3 years ago? IF my memory is correct about that it would indicate even more that the bracket work is mostly done early.

RE: Bracketology
Yeah it’s already set due to time constraints. If we end up a 3 it’s because they decided that earlier in the week.
