** scanning Mt. Saint Mary's 2018 big man commits**

Though I'm pretty sure if he has any special committed/signed kids that he will try to bring them with him. The kind of guy coach Christian is, I doubt there will be any meaningful defections from Siena.

We recruited SG Matt Becht, but I'm pretty sure we are set at guard. Big man of note is Chidozie "Collin" Nnamene 6'8 185lbs. Long and athletic, though he seems a wee bit undersized for the CAA. 6'8 SF Luke Lawson is intriguing. He is a high riser that committed only 6 days ago. Had offer from Delaware.

Now Rothstein tweeted
"Contrary to reports, Mount St. Mary's Jamion Christian has not been hired as the next head coach at Siena, per multiple sources. Still one of the leading candidates."

Thought was that the news was leaked early by the NY media and Christian wanted the chance to let his players know. So, while not official, it is assumed to be a done deal. Crazier things happen all the time though.

If it's any indication, info about Jamion was taken off of the MSM website.

Its possible he agreed to go but his current school stepped in and offered him a great contract.

We need our third assistant on board NOW. Critical recruiting period and Tony, Jonathan and Austin have got to be stretched thin.

VCU, UVA and W&M under the same requirements for posting job/coach openings.

VCU assistant left on April 20th for a HC position and his replacement was announced on April 27th. Really....

UVA associate HC left on March 20th. Director of recruiting/operations moved to interim assistant coach on March 26th to allow him to recruit, then made permanent on the April 17th.

Kotie left on April 4th and........

Then again, if our recruiting budget is that thin at the moment, maybe it doesn't matter.

Finally official, Jamion Christian to Siena. Guess we'll know quick whether Julian is in line for here or not.

Would love to see Ben Wilkins get a shot. He did a great job when he was here and I believe helped install an initial version of the offense we run so effectively and efficiently today.

I know. I'm curious what the hold up is in announcing a new assistant. It can't be that they are giving the courtesy of keeping their current job until the signing period is over. We never get that. I'm guessing, like many already guessed, that it is Julian Boatner. And that the hold up was due to Coach Christian's delay in announcing his move. Now that is over, I'd expect some movement. I'd say we find out whoever it is when the signing period ends.

RE: Coaching Carousel
Do they have to formally announce the hiring before that assistant can start recruiting? Or if say, the paperwork/contract is signed, but it hasn’t been formally announced yet, could that 3rd assistant interact without Harvey on his visit this weekend and help recruit him/close the deal?

Think as long as he is formally in the position, whether announced or not.

If it is Julian, then that may be it. With the Jamion move, it could have somehow been agreed to allow Julian to honor his contract and remain in place for their program stability until Jamion's replacement is named. Still, unusual, and I can't imagine we'd be waiting on his decision, in the event Jamion was trying to take him to Siena. Then again, we are thankfully old school in how we do things.

We’ve been talking about Boatner but what about Quinn McDowell? I just saw that he followed Erik Korem and the possibility crossed my mind. He has spent the last two years as an assistant at Virginia Wesleyan.

I like Quinn, but I think it is important to have a black coach on staff.
