Thanks for posting. IMO, Evans compares pretty well with anyone on the rest of that list.

If he's offered guaranteed money in the NBA I couldn't in good conscience say stay, especially if he finishes helping UC complete a deep run in the 2018 Tournament. My hope would be that kind of performance in March would help attract another talented player to fill his shoes.

If he's gone, November will begin a major rebuild.

...I mean, we won't be a Final Four contender like this year, but I wouldn't call it a rebuild either. I think we could be a pretty good (6-9 seed) team next year.

RE: Evans finalist for Small Forward of the Year
Mick still has 2 maybe 3 scholarships to fill, if he is able to bring a couple instant impact recruits it could make a difference. They recently offered Wendell Mitchell from Trinity CC, who could be a stud. He is averaging 21 ppg, 7 ast., 6 reb, and 3 stl for a top 10 JUCO program. I could see us anywhere to a 2-10 seed depending on what happens in recruiting and if JE3 stays.

uhhh... osu 146 miles? where did you get that from? the border to the border is under 100 as the crow flies. and louisville is within 100 miles, and obviously you forgot UC which is within 100 miles.. so yes, at least 5 of the 10 play within 100 miles... and many others are darn close.

Evans entered Wednesday ranked among the league leaders in nine categories: three-point field goal percentage (sixth at .411), steals (eighth at 1.4), assist-to-turnover ratio (ninth at 1.8); assists (11th at 3.4), free throw percentage (11th at .794), blocks (13th at 1.1), three-pointers made (14th at 1.8) and minutes played (21st at 30.9).

Evans has scored in double figures in 21 games this season, including 18 of the last 20 contests. He currently ranks 41st in school history with 1,093 career points.

Evans has been named The American's Player of the Week twice this season (Dec. 18, 2017 and Jan. 8, 2018). Most recently, he hit a buzzer beater at Temple (Jan. 4) and scored a game-high 18 points against SMU (Jan. 7) to earn the honor on Jan. 8. Earlier this season, he netted a season-high 24 points with four threes against Mississippi State (Dec. 12) and had 16 points with four threes at UCLA (Dec. 16) to claim the honor on Dec. 18.

On Monday Evans was tabbed to The American's Weekly Honor Roll after averaging a team-high 18.5 points with 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists while shooting 92.9 percent (13 of 14) from the free throw line in a pair of victories

// JULIUS ERVING SMALL FORWARD OF THE YEAR AWARD FINALIST
Kelan Martin, Butler
Jacob Evans III, Cincinnati
Gary Trent Jr., Duke
Kevin Knox, Kentucky
Deng Adel, Louisville
Miles Bridges, Michigan St.
Keita Bates-Diop, Ohio St.
Vincent Edwards, Purdue
Mikal Bridges, Villanova
Trevon Bluiett, Xavier

Interesting that most of the young men on that list are playing for schools either in or within 100 miles of Cincinnati.

Duke--490 miles
Villanova---559 miles
Purdue ---179 miles
Michigan St ---320 miles
Louisville-101 miles from my house
Butler. 118 miles
UK--82 miles
tosu 146 miles
X--4.6 miles

actually 2,,not most

uhhh... osu 146 miles? where did you get that from? the border to the border is under 100 as the crow flies. and louisville is within 100 miles, and obviously you forgot UC which is within 100 miles.. so yes, at least 5 of the 10 play within 100 miles... and many others are darn close.

7 out of 10 are within an easy 2 hour drive of the Queen City, and an 8th (Edwards) is a Cincy native who plays less than 3 hours away.

Having so many good teams in our region this year might send us out West if we get a 1 or 2 seed
