Coming from a life long democrat that grew up poor and had the help of a welfare program a couple times in my early life. I can safely say the democrat party, today and for the last 18 or so years....are not for those people you describe. And to be honest neither is the republicans.

But we do have a President (with all of his warts) that is trying to do just as you view those poor people. He wants them to get jobs. He wants companies to create jobs in those areas. He wants The fathers to help raise their kids and be a father. And he wants mothers to do the same. And if you need help, he wants you to get it. But also go out and help yourself.

Use welfare to help you...when you need it. Not as a tool so you don't have to go out and support yourself like the democrats have done over the last 18 or so years. For a lot of people that's getting housing asst. food asst and a check. Going to work would be a pay cut. That's the biggest problem. Yes I know people (white, brown and black) just like that.

Many people in the poorest parts of a city goes to work everyday and support their families. Those with a strong mother & father....

hates the deadbeats as much as you think everyone other than a democrat does. They hate having to send their child to a school where 25% makes it impossible to get a good education. They hate sending their child to the store because they might get robbed. They hate everything about those that are trying to milk the system.

Why? Because it make them be seen in the same light as those bums that just don't want to work. Don't want to go to school. Dont want to live by laws they have to.

That democrat party (or at least today) they still support because they believe what the media is selling them...

is not trying to build jobs. They are not trying to make the streets safer. They are not trying to make their life better. Those days are gone for democrats ...long gone

Fights to have the government control ever increasing portions of our lives
Fights to impose an economic system that would destroy this country

Hey, I should chime in on this one. I come from "el Barrio". I pooped in multi-family outhouses where sometimes they weren't the cleanest and at times you could see a black widow hanging in her web in the ceiling. I often heard my dear ol' dad telling me to vote for a democrat because as he said it, "they care about poor people". I took that bait but growing up I realized that the Demons ONLY cared about getting elected, and screw the "poor people". Now. I'm not rich but any count but I and my wife who came from the "projects" and worked her way through a master's degree realized that the only way to get out of the barrio was to "work" ourselves out. I have no pity for lazy people and I know a few who are that are dependent on guv'mint handouts.

uh yeah, I just said I dont disagree with your plan. (except the last point...that wont work in reality. Just telling people two parents are better than one (although true) isnt going to change anything. Its a much deeper issue and will need a vastly different solution. The ‘build a culture of respect and honor for young men and women’ piece needs fleshed out.
