Ideally, we can employ a coach highly skilled in recruiting, PR, game management, and player development. However, if forced to choose one of the four, then I select recruiting. We need to look no further than our current and last coach for an example. In the past ten years, Pastner had twice as many NCAA Tourney victories (the acid test) as Tubby.

Yep, Tubby is a big fail in almost every category of what Memphis needs in a solid coach. The biggies are recruiting and local basketball connections. But the biggest is his inflexibility.

2010-2016 were the mountain top compared to this.

Just recruiting got us to the postseason 5 out of 7 years. We all agree that Pastner did nothing with it, but talent always wins. The worst year during that stretch we were still top 80. We are in the 160’s today. I think people truly are numb to how bad we really are.

He would be a good assistant on any staff.

If he was a proven asset as a major D1 assistant it would hurt him a lot less. But as a guy trying to break in, he's got some bridges to mend IMO.

Stuff comes and goes so fast. Social media really changed accountability.

I'm a football first guy and am thankful our football program is where it's at today, but why pit one against the other (football school vs basketball school). As I have season tickets to both, I would love to see both excel in their respective sports. Basketball has been down before and has always come back, and it will again, just takes the right person (coach) to lead the way. So yea, lets not pit one against the other, but be proud of both and pull for both to succeed. GO TIGERS!
