Broke away during the 9th minute of the first quarter and never looked back. Well done, Tribe.

RE: Roasting the Hens
Excellent D by JP on Allen in the second half plus his game leading 33 points. Would be surprised if he is not POW!

Coach very happy with TEAM effort. Cohn has 11 assists on only 1 TO. We have 20 assists to 9 TO as TEAM.

Milon is playing with more confidence and looking for a BIG GAME from him at NE next Saturday..........

Knight was not playing well in first half so Harrison filled in well but we still won going away due to lights out game by Pierce

TEAM still struggles with man to man D in first half as Allen scored 23 first half points due to Cohn and the other guards being over matched by him but good coaching move had Peirce cover him in second half and MUCH better TEAM D!

Next week Big on deciding our seeds, really would love to miss playing Towson in the Tournament with a 2 or 3 seed and let Hofstra and Towson play in quarterfinals.

Matt absolutely did not miss from all over the court during second half warmups. Really believe at some point he's going to have a monster game.

Glad to see Milon start hitting again. Pierce did a good job on Allen, but Tot also matched up with him during the stretch where we took him out of the game. Tot had a strong game, although not a lot in the box score. We did a good job hitting the middle of their zone.

Pierce's dunk and Cohn's spin and behind the back pass were the highlights of the game.

That is exactly what we need from Tot. When he comes in, have him d up on their best guard and go all out on the defensive end for ~5 minutes. With how Tot is used, he won't ever fill up the box score. However, he is still a key cog off the bench

RE: Roasting the Hens
A truly great day at The Big Jim'.

Just under 6000 at the game filled the place with noise and fun...student turned out in droves and most stood and cheered all game long. Our Charter Week has turned into a second Homecoming.

Team played great...they stepped up to the hoopla in the arena.

Pierce is stunning sometimes...he was all over the court and played at a higher level on both offense and defense. David Cohn a whirling dervish all day...he never stops.

Now bring it to the road this week.

Gotta take a minute to applaud all the efforts that go into the Gold Rush game. This isn’t a one year fluke...It’s a major annual tradition that generates excitement and buzz around the program. A 20 point win in front of 6K people ensures that buzz will continue.

Well done to all those involved. 4 games to go. Let’s go Tribe!

RE: Roasting the Hens
As BigTribe said, it is becoming a winter Homecoming. I encourage the school to continue to expand the number of events planned around the weekend. Most Basketball-only schools have their Homecoming during the winter, so this is a way for us to have our cake and eat a second one (or something like that...).

Using some of the ideas for the Gold Rush to perk up other home games is not a ridiculous request, by the way. 6,000 a night for home games is not that pie-in-the-skyish.

Congrats to all, including the excellent play by the Home Team.

RE: Roasting the Hens
I like the idea of a 2nd winter homecoming. I also like that it fits in nicely with a big W&M weekend like charter day. Also, the timing is such that you can bring in unsigned seniors during the open football signing period and heading into the late basketball signing period. Also a good time to bring in juniors for unofficial visits. IMO, Gold Rush is a fantastic move and deserves to be built on and expanded.

We actually had some stupid passes and turn overs when we were up big. Tony was not pleased. We could have won by 40. Just shows how well they can play if they did so for an entire game. We could roll into the post season.

RE: Roasting the Hens
Why do we continue to trot out 10-15 former basketball players who wave and get applauded, and then they walk off the court, without any attempt to identify the individuals ... nothing in the program...nothing on the scoreboard...nothing by the PA announcer.

This cattle call during a timeout is ridiculous.

Take the time and do it right ... at halftime ... and identify the former players individually.

Geez!

Been squawking about this every year.

RE: Roasting the Hens
I agree. I know most of them, but each has their own story and connecting them with the fans is important. It would take a staff person about four hours to put a quick bio and stats, and maybe a head shot on a sheet of paper that could have been included in the program. Stuff like this is why the survey came out.

Count me among those who don't know who they were but wanted to. While we gave a nice ovation to them, it would have made for a great 10 minutes at halftime to honor each of them with a nice bio in the program. But, it was about the only thing Saturday that wasn't fantastic. My wife and I really enjoyed the weekend and my daughter and 50+ of her friends did too. Kudos to all involved in that day. I heard several students saying it was the most fun that they had at any Tribe sporting event during the W&M time. Good attendance for lots of other events of the weekend. 2nd Homecoming is an apt description, but Gold Rush has now rocked for a while and keeps getting better.
