OT: Major new health facility coming to campus.
EMU will occupy more than half of the building (while only paying for $1.8 million out of a total $8.4 million). What a deal.

And another key passage in this presser: "The existing Snow Health Center area on Eastern’s campus will be evaluated for other potential uses." Probably will be converted into an academic building (like Bowen after Champ. Building Plan). Or potentially new dorms/REC IM expansion?

That seems to me a SUPER big win for all involved, esp. EMU. Being associated with St. Joes, in a new building, etc. etc. And things like urgent care.

As Doc Fennel told me before he died, EMU is a really an hidden gem of a university.

It keeps getting better and better. One is hard pressed to find nicer student facilities that the student union, Halle library and now this facility, etc.

If I were the parent of a student I'd be happy.

If I were the parent of a football or basketball player I'd be happy that the stadium/arena is a stone's throw away from St. Joes Hospital.

We may take that for granted, but a lot of smaller colleges and universities are not near outstanding medical care and hospital.

This is from EMU and contains new construction projects including projects for Rynearson, championship building project, Rec/IM, etc as well as many other projects related to academics, health and housing....

P.S. Fermentation sciences does that have to do with the drink EMU fans have after the MBB misses 10 FTs and loses a game by two points??? Lol.

And to be fair, that drink could also be drunk when a missed FG costs the FB team a 'W'.

Lot of opportunities to drown your sorrows in that fermentation drink stuff...

I'd say that a 1.8 million dollar investment to get a 8.4 million dollar asset is an awfully good rate of return. IHA and St. Joseph are respected first class partners and this facility will serve the University and city well. Whomever is driving these outside investments like this and Amazon needs to keep this engine running.
