Thanks! You were just so quiet on those for the past eight years or so that I thought they were a non factor.

Here's your problem: I don't really care about the deficit and the debt all that much, never have. That was a conservative mantra, right? And now it doesn't seem to be. Now, why is that? I know...I know...pick me...pick me... 03-lol

You're really just not very good at this are you? I'm a big government liberal, remember? I've never really cared about expenses, so why would I be vocal about them? 03-rotfl

Most conservatives[/align] don't like this spending. I do find it hilarious that dems are now complaining about the deficit though. Bless their hearts.

Again, you miss the point. We're not complaining so much as we're pointing out that deficits just magically don't seem to matter to cons/republicans now that their guy is in the WH. That's all.

And we're mainly pointing it out because it shows that tax cuts do not increase revenue...and additionally, that Republicans spend money recklessly just like Democrats do. Granted, it's still early...but keep an eye on this...I don't expect it to magically turn around. But if it does, I'll gladly congratulate trump and admit I was wrong.

The country has had a budget surplus of $49 billion in the month since the tax cut. Repatriations should help for a while, but Congress will bed to cut entitlement spending, and the economy needs to hit 3%+ growth:

No, I didn't miss the point. Some folks still can't tell the difference between conservative and republican though. I can't stand the increased spending; however, it remains to be seen if the increased revenue from the tax cuts will help offset the spending. Too early to tell any thing right now really, hence why all the "SPENDING" stuff is a bit premature.

Dude....wake up. I've already addressed this twice above. It's not a burn. I've never complained about budget deficits. That's the con/republican mantra...well at least it was when Obama was in there.

The number has NOT been decreasing for a while. This is a complete fabrication.

Your comment about tax cuts are debatable, but either way, certainly nobody with a brain thinks they will be reflected in what you seem to claim is 'evidence'. More fabrication.

The 'rate of increase' declined from 2010-2015, but it increased massively from 2007-2010 (at least there was a reason for that) and again from 2015-current. This is how we as a people get stupid and run over. By people claiming that a decrease in the rate of increase from a massively inflated starting point is actually a decrease.

More importantly, spending increased massively from 2007-2010 and then contrary to the stories, really stayed at that artificially elevated level the whole time, even increasing even more in the last two years of Obama's presidency.

We need to stop letting politicians make us stupid

RE: It's Now Happening - Budget Deficit
8 months later...national debt now at 21.629 trillion. Up 1.667 trillion under trump. Deficit now at $861 billion and still climbing. Nearing the highest deficit since 2012.

Quote:The deficit rose to $779 billion in fiscal year 2018, up 17% from last year, according to final figures released Monday by the Treasury Department. That's the largest number since 2012, when the country was still spending massively to stimulate an economy struggling to recover.

Government receipts were flat this year from last year. Corporate tax collections fell $76 billion, or 22%, due to the Republican-backed tax cut. But that drop was more than offset by increased revenues from individual and self-employment taxes. The fiscal year ended September 30.

As interest rates rise, servicing that ballooning debt could pose challenging. Treasury spent $522 billion last year paying interest, up 14% from the year before. That's more than Medicaid costs annually.
Deficit balloons to highest level since 2012
