Broncos lose 4-2

RIP our season. If we don’t pick up major points vs Duluth next weekend we will likely be headed on the road for NCHC series and then our season will be over because we won’t win it

Losing Allison and Conrad doomed this team. Haven’t been the same since they went down.

So true. We're still battling, but being a step-behind some of these top team players leads our youngsters to draw foolish penalties. Then you're wasting time trying to kill off penalties and tiring everyone out.

Looks like another Bronco Ice Hockey season that promised much in the beginning but faded down the stretch due to injuries and lack of depth.

We'll be lucky to get home ice for the playoffs and, even if we get it, I don't have confidence we'll take advantage of it.

RE: St. Cloud state
SCSU had 4 minutes in the Box on 2 infractions.
WMU had 21 minutes in the Box on 5 infractions.

SCSU had 2 powerplay goals.
WMU had no powerplay goals.

SCSU had 37 shots on goal
WMU had 22 shots on goal.

The most telling statistic?

WMU had 1 (one) SOG in the 3rd period. We'd shot out wad killing off 21 minutes of powerplay for SCSU.

SCSU kept Western from shooting the puck on goal for nearly the entire 3rd period tonight, we couldn't keep them from scoring a goal the last 2:30 of last nights game.

Paints a pretty clear picture of our season since we lost Allison and Conrad.

I left last night thinking that we gave that game away. Tonight, it felt more like they took the game, despite our usual penalty minute disadvantage. We're behind the eight ball now and may need a sweep over Duluth to maintain a safe pairwise spot.....and home ice for the playoffs.

Im not so hard on the boy's , Scsu is a very good team . The first game with decent goaltending we win and the second we run out of gas in the third cause of having to shorten the bench to try and stay in the game. As far as penalties go 15 mins came on one play and 10 of those we are not down a man so it's not as bad as the stat looks .The fact Allison and Conrad are out does paint a clear picture but it would with most teams just try and take the top two scorers of any one of the NCHC teams you will drastically affect their results. Hopefully split next weekend then we will see a more clear picture, plus Conrad will be getting closer. Problem is we need both to have sucess in the tournaments and that ain't happening.

I don't know. I think we played St. Cloud tough for how shorthanded we are. If we can hang with them we can hang with anybody. Where exactly do we need to be to get into NCAA tourney? How much does the conf tournament affect the pairwise?

I’d say we would need a split / sweep over Duluth and a sweep over Colorado college. Then win the first round NCHC series and get to the frozen faceoff. I think that would be enough to get us in with an at large bid.

However, if we crap the bed vs Duluth and CC, we will need to win the NCHC tourney to get the automatic tourney bid

I’m hoping we show up to play against Duluth on home ice in almost a must win series. Should be a fun atmosphere

Having 2 of the top 3 scorers out for the last third of the season is hugely problematic. I think we played well down the stretch given the conditions. Come what may, I think we have a strong squad going into next year.

I think next year's team is seriously strong. I really think morale should be high as **** for next year. This is a very good team, and young.

If Allison sticks around next season we should be a nightmare in the NCHC.

As for SCSU this weekend... They likely vault into the #1 spot given UofM sweeping ND... So this season at home we have gone 2-1-1 at home against #1 ranked teams in the NCAA...
