Again, that does not change the fact that we are near dead last and recruit players with only fcs or no offers. But you always know best. You have a very narrow mindset and are complacent.

Right on point. Numbers and performance speak volumes over the last 4 years or so.

Non of this can be stated enough.

What specific steps would you three numbskulls immediately implement in order to achieve Top5 CUSA FB recruiting yearly?

It's easy to *****, it's harder to come up with substantive changes.

EDIT: In an effort to be less Groundhog's Day, let me just say that when accusing Giles of having a narrow-mindset, including those changes that would improve recruiting could lessen the concern that you suffer from a similar affliction.

Good day, sir.

Simple....I have said it many times before. 1) Successfully recruit more 3*s than 2*s and rank in the top5 of recruiting ratings for the conference. 2) improve the game day atmosphere. Stadium is a good start. 3) More on campus housing. 4) Build a stronger partnership with the City to improve the campus. 5) begin to increase the academic profile of the University. 5) spend more money to increase the quality of coaches. All of these are under our control.

Alright, slow down.

One, ranking in the top 5 was the stated goal, so it can't be something to implement as well. "The best way to win games is to win games" doesn't really work.

Two, how do we successfully recruit more 3s than 2s? I think that's always been the goal, but we've fallen short, perhaps. What will change that?

Three, in 3) do you mean gen pop or housing for FB players? I think all players are initially housed on-campus and then given the option for off-campus after their soph year.

Four 4) and the first 5) would be tough to "implement immediately", but I agree should be long-term goals.

The second 5) has already been implemented, but next year we'll need a Plan B either a)more money to keep the same lineup or b) newer better coaches.

RE: Football Recruiting: 2019
Improved recruiting will be an incremental process IMO. We've set 2 major wheels in motion by vastly improving our coaching staff ( at least on paper, time will tell) and doing a major overhaul of the stadium. Those 2 actions SHOULD result in improved recruiting for 2020. we'll see.. From there, it all depends on football record. Need to get above .500 and stay there for a good long while. As we all know, success breeds success.

247 didn't rank the fake player rivals did. The 247 composite pulled in the rivals rating because it is a composite. 247 also stated they will require a rating from themselves before the player will be in the composite. Hate on 247 all you want but rivals are the ones who screwed up here.

Why do you have to call them numbskulls. And yes it is easier to ***** about our bad rankings and harder to come up with solutions but we are not the ones getting paid to recruit therefore all we can do is ***** about our bottom quarter of cusa recruiting ratings. As for suggestions on this board, there have been plenty made in the atmosphere and traditions thread and the school doesn't listen to those ideas so even if the 3 "numbskulls" did have some ideas to improve recruiting it's not like anyone would listen to them anyways.

No sense in trying to reason with him or Giles. Giles disappears as soon as facts don’t fit his opinion. Some people are just complacent.

Reason and logic are always welcome. You seem to lack both. But I'll play....

When is one no longer being complacent?

So... let me get this straight. Pointing out that our recruiting has been below average equates to me lacking reason and logic? Please go on. I would like to hear more. If you are against fans sharing their opinion that don’t fit yours, I suggest you stay away from the internet. But you seem to enjoy being a key board warrior.

Ok, you equated your lack of logic and recruiting, not me. I also never said we have different views wrt recruiting. Finally, I'm not the keyboard warrior suggesting someone leave for having a differing view. And to me those alone prove my point...BUT...I'll also concede I do forget that not everyone shares my sense of humor (or frustration), so if it rubbed you or anyone else the wrong way, I do apologize.

The new stadium and the new hires (assuming they can breach the circle of trust enough to help shake up play calling/schemes) are a good start. Winning this fall will certainly improve our chances at getting those precious 3 star and above players y'all seem to fanboy over on here. However, how much could campus actually be improved since ODU seems to be hemmed in all sides at this point? Is there old housing that could be torn down/rebuilt/renovated? I thought ODU just recently built a bunch of new on-campus housing. Id the city of Norfolk a bad neighbor?

RE: Football Recruiting: 2019
And since I'm asking you for answer, here's mine: I don't think there are any 'light switches' we can immediately flip that will get us Top 5.

Although I expect a bump from the new coaches and the new stadium, I don't think that at this stage it's reasonable to expect consistent Top 5 recruiting finishes. I see it as a process. I hope Allen and Stiney win one or two recruiting battles, which gets us another win, maybe two, on the field which turns another recruit's head etc etc.

We get there through baby steps.

I agree. I think we should see an impact next recruiting cycle from the new coaches and the new stadium. Other than that I think it will just take winning and time. More players in the nfl will certainly help as well. My original gripe was with the comment on 247 and past recruiting cycles. My complacency comment was directed towards a certain poster. Other than that I think we finally have most of the pieces in place to be successful moving forward. 04-cheers

Recruiting rankings arent facts. And 247 had a player on theirnsotr ranked as a 3 star that did not exist. Posters on her tell then when players commit to ODU. If you want to put any faith in those type of rankings, have fun. But they are opinions by people that dont know who the players are.
