Between the JUCOs, returning Dlinemen, and the class of 2019, we seem to have the potential for a very good and deep defensive line. Powell's size and skillset would likely have him competing for one of only three down lineman positions (really just two as the NT position will be very specific); including 3 star recruit Cole Birdow, JUCOs Blake Hehl, and Carson Ramos, along with returning (as of now) DTs - Ty-Kee McCullers, Sokoya McDuffie, Jeremy Meiser, Juan Ross, Mufu Taiwo, and Cameron Washington.

I suspect that with the new DC and the apparent emphasis on 3-4, he didn't see a path to future significant playing time. Even with a redshirt, the only rising Senior is Taiwo.

With the new DEs and LBs, along with what is returning at those two positions, we will be stacked for the 3-4, except for the Nose. I am really curious as to whom will play NT.

Wow! Originally signed w Michigan State. Half of CUSA and the MAC wanted him. First recruit I can recall that we took From So Miss. I’d say this guy sounds even more highly regarded than Stone. Both Williams and Stone just got some tough competition. I’m feeling better about the QB situation. I like the new Def coach too. if we can develop some receivers and recruit a decent O line, maybe we can win a few next year.

Edit: meant Stone, not Shadow.

Won JuCo championship for EMCC, the original school in Last Chance U. Messiah v. Smartt will be a tremendous QB competition, with Wolff to apprentice and take over in a couple of years after a redshirt.
