It seems logical that Lomax would want to play for Penny. I don’t have a source; just using what seems like common sense. AL hasn’t stepped foot on the WSU campus as a student yet, so I would imagine he could get out of his LOI if he wanted to.

TF is right. He's signed, so if he is not released, it would be like a transfer and he'd have to sit a year. But if he's released - I'm betting he would be - he would more than likely be cleared to play this year.

The only other qualifier is if WSU has a HC change, he could automatically get out of the signing if he wants.

Because Wichita State can simply release Lomax from his NLI if Lomax requests it, without Marshall leaving Wichita State.

It’s a bad look to hold a kid ransom who wants out of his LOI. I can’t recall the last time someone actually did that. To do that you would burn a scholarship on a kid that isn’t playing.

Especially in this case Marshall would look like a real jerk if he didn't grant the release. Penny coached Lomax in middle school, in HS, in AAU. Basically at times was Lomax's guardian. Good luck to Marshall ever recruiting in Memphis again if he makes Lomax sit out a year.

Lomax just needs to say he is no longer going to Wichita State. Put the ball in Marshall's court - he either makes Lomax sit a year or he doesn't.

Other solution is the sick local relative, but it shouldn't have to go there.
