Absolutely heartbreaking news. Talk about a player that was loved by nearly everyone associated with the program. Way too young.

heartbreaking. There’s no other way I can describe it. I remember rushing the field and lifting him up on our shoulders after beating ULM in 2014. Watching him play was truly a blessing. I’ll be thinking about and praying for his amazing family.

He was also nominated for the Wuerffel Trophy, which acknowledges players who show exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

Also, Edwin was nominated for AllState Good Works Team for his volunteer work at a local Statesboro elementary school, and hosting a football clinic for children in Costa Rica during his Christmas break.

Lastly, Edwin competed in the prestigious Medal of Honor Senior Bowl in Charleston, SC after completing his senior year.

RIP#40 It's incredibly sad when anyone loses their life in such a tragic way. But it's uplifting to my spirits to see the incredible outpouring of love and support for a young man that truly exemplified Erk Russell's "Do Right" in everything that he did. He was always smiling, always helping, always pushing everyone to do their best. When superstars in the NFL and national media know the name of and are tweeting out their support and love for a former walk-on who was undrafted and then becomes an NFL starter, it shows how his life touched all of those around him. He will be sorely missed.

May he RIP, total shame to be taken from this world. What makes it even worse was the drunk driving the vehicle that caused this accident was an illegal immigrant wanted for deportation with no driver license. He shouldn't have even been here to cause this.

I drive home past that spot every workday, I will pray for his soul to rest every time for a long while . Condolences to his family and friends.

I was hoping this wouldn’t turn political. Starting to see tweets using this tragedy to push a narrative and it’s disheartening to see.

I'd rather talk about his on the field story and off the field pursuits.
