I rarely gripe about officiating (I usually have fairly low expectations for it) but today’s was just excessively stupidious.

Any video of some of the key calls down the stretch? I ended up having to go see the nephew in the middle school play.

Tough last couple of games....

Close, but just can't get over the hump.

Yeah, I mean I guess you're right. I just hate the spirit of it. I guess there's no real alternative, but any rule that seemingly penalizes a team for a player potentially suffering a gruesome injury seems wrong.

I understand how it looks distasteful at first blush. But, trying to look at the reason such a rule exists and the "unintended consequences" of removing it brings things into perspective... That said, it still looks distasteful at second blush, but at least the other options are worse...

This game was clearly Bishop Mency's game of the year, if not his college career (when he was a Freshman, he went 4-4 from the 3 point line at North Texas and he scored 20 against Charlotte that year). It was his shooting in the 2nd half that kept Rice in the game and gave them a chance to win. This is the 2nd game in a row where Rice could not close out an opponent they had down...but not out. The best news out of this game was it seems that Rice learned from their first loss against the Mean Green and their adjustments helped them defensively. They shot well above their seasons average but still fell at the end. A clear leader still needs to emerge from this bunch, someone who will refuse to lose when it comes down to making the key play(s) down the stretch.
