Still, given the stats, I would have taken a flyer on Murray sooner (3rd or 4th round), but I guess if you think the guy is slipping down, why chose him too soon? I think the Blue Jays got an excellent pick for the 8th round.

I wonder if Thwaits isn't looking at Lauer and saying, well, in three years, I could get a $2M bonus (given Kent's recent history of helping young arms become young, valuable arms). I think all draft choices past the 10th round are limited by $125K bonuses unless the money comes from the pool in the first 10 rounds, so it will be interesting to see if the Padres make an aggressive offer or not.

Indiana's coach was taken by Mississippi State. Does Indiana go after Duncan?

Indiana hired Wright State's coach. Per the RC:

My family and I are happy right here," said Duncan, whose Golden Flashes captured Mid-American Conference Tournament and regular-season titles in 2018. "I love the direction this program is headed in. We're building a beast."

That's good news. Happy with the season and spring sports were overall a success to golf titles and a baseball title. Golf represented us well at nationals. Now if we can get some success in the Fall!

Saw this on the Lima News last night - would have loved to see him pitch for Ohio's class DI bb team and our coach

$450K bonus. Slot for the middle of the 4th round. Well, I've never had to make a decision like that, so I don't know what I would do, but best of luck to him.

Take the money! From what I've seen, the over-under for a career length for a 4th round draft choice is about 4 years. Stash some of the money to finish your college degree after your pro career ends.

Unfortunately, he'll have to live on what's left of that 450K after taxes until he makes it to the majors (if he ever does). Minor league pay scales are ridiculous. Unless you're a veteran that signed as a minor league free agent you're slotted in to a set amount based on the level you play at. At the lowest level they're only making $1150 per month which is well below minimum wage. At the highest level you're still only making $40,000 a year. It's an absolute joke that nothing has been done about this.
