It's funny you say that. As I was dancing around in my aisle -- like an 8-year-old on an ice-cream-and-cake sugar high -- my wife put her hand on my shoulder and said "You know, we're just lucky he fell down."

They took pity on a team playing 5 on 8 two games in a row.
That said everyone talks about the foul’s being one sided in the 2nd half. But no one talks about the 1st half. At one point it was 10+ fouls on UAB and only 5 on ODU.

It wasn't about that for me. It was about the quality of the calls. Horrendous.

UAB had 6 fouls in the first half. ODU had 5. Not sure where you're getting 10+ on UAB.

I went back this morning and watched the replay on ESPN3. Its amazing how many times Brandon Stith gets his hands on a loose ball, blocks a shot, hits the floor, etc. some people have been critical about his play but he flat out gives his all. His effort is second to none.

I think it is fair to criticize his scoring. He has his moments but most of the time I cringe a little when he shoots. But every other aspect of his game is outstanding. He is one of those guys that just has a knack for getting to the ball and no small part of that is his hustle. Some would call that last minute steal and dunk lucky. There may have been some luck involved but without his hustle that wouldn't have happened.

JJ, you are so right. Nobody has been mentioning it but look what happened against middle T. Stith picks up his fourth foul about four minutes left and heads to bench. MT makes run right then. By the time Jones puts him back in, game is essentially over.
Key to our squad on the D end IMO.

I can't argue with you about the scoring but it's also obvious he has worked very hard to get where he is with his shot. His foul shooting stroke has improved tremendously and his percentage is now decent. There is some confidence that he will knock down his FT's now and at least he is not reluctant to take a shot. As much as I loved Denzel Taylor's hustle it seemed like he never got comfortable looking to score. Heck, I would bet a lot of big guys that don't handle the ball much would not even have looked toward the basket after that steal last night. Some would have just been happy to get the ball and find someone to pass to so they wouldn't get fouled. Brandon is a hard nosed player and we will greatly miss him next year.

Indeed the "gods of roundball" were with us but we were due!

I totally agree. He has improved every aspect of his game. That's why I said I cringe a little. I really cringe when Carver shoots.
BTW I know we don't make a lot of threes but I thought we passed up quite a few open threes last night. Even Randy. If BJ has broken his slump he could shoot it anytime he touched it. He has the ability to create his own shot whenever he wants with his vertical. And he is the best shooter on the team IMO.

Really happy to get a win against UAB, we lost to them quiet a few times in the past. I'm extremely happy to see Green put the ball in basket again. Five (5) guys in double figure scoring last night.

Aggie, did you mean the Blazers?
Yep. Boy, my age has really been showing lately. Can't seem to get my posts in the right thread, or if I do, screw up the message. Oh well -- at least I'm still giving it a shot!

Hang in there good buddy. Some of us are with you on the aging thing and we share you angst. That said, some accrue wisdom as they age (you would be one of those) and wisdom is always valued even if it comes with typos and/or faux pas.

Haynes was also out with a bloody nose over that period, which allowed Giddy to go wild. Any we you splice it, we take a hit if any of the starting 5 are on the bench.

Meant to post this earlier. But I sure do miss the days of the crown chanting "Cry Baby, Cry Baby, Cry Baby..." when we played UAB and Gene "Cry Baby" Bartow was the coach! Fun Times!
