I don’t think we are mentioning the best parts of the article (or I read over it) but you have to love what was said by Davenport about Parks Jr., basically that he never got down about Not getting many minutes, instead he was working hard to earn them.

And then Martin . . He’s sounds like a great kid, his comment about the coaching staff (playing the best players at that point in the game) was wise beyond his years.

Translation:

'I am in no need of job security since I am guaranteed my retirement $$$'s.'

All coaches say this. The ones who believe it either are successful OR have been successful but are set for life $$$'s-wise.

I must be out of touch. Those comments don't seem out of character for a college coach. Plenty to lament - crootin, record setting losses, nepotism. I just don't see the quotes in the same category.

are there kittens on the posters on the wall?

Someone might be coaching him up on what to say, too.

If I were family, I'd listen to his woes but drum this stuff into his head over and over and over:

Sit still. Don't rock the boat. The right people know it's bad. If a player does anything untoward, they tend to blame the players. Just think about graduating early. You can do anything you put your mind. If you wanna leave at the end of the year, you can. You just stay cool.
