RE: Charlotte game thread
The WKU/Marshall road trip seems to have killed the team. It’s almost like they’ve just given up since losing those two. Maybe it’s just me, but it feels like everyone but Cokley is digressing.

I like that zone defense with Gueye in the center of the paint. Been waiting all year to see if and when Ehsan was going to do that. Very effective!

I liked the minutes played column much better, tonight. Nine players in the rotation.

Cokely is consistently a beast. 26 points, 12 rebounds on 10 of 12 shooting.
Lavender and Sullivan gave us great minutes off the bench and Lee played well. Guard play, other than Lavender, was bad.

I may have missed it if this was addressed previously, but what is the longterm plan for Murry Bartow and UAB radio? Is IMG paying him?

al dot com did this big piece about how exposed we got by a surprising, disappointing loss to UTSA at home. Now you tell me both UAB and UTSA won last night? It's almost as if that al dot com article were (correct use of subjunctive tense) complete bull****.

All I heard is he will be doing some away radio games for us. But also some TV games. Probably just free lancing on a per game basis. Not sure how much they pay them for doing a radio or TV game but its probably not bad for the amount of time involved.
Murry seems well prepared when I've heard him. He knows the game and he does his homework rather than just showing up & talking like a lot of the guys.
I suspect he could get work for UAB, Samford and others when teams have their games on ESPN3 or whatever. And he will probably get another crack at coaching within a few years if he wants it. Either as a head coach or an assistant somewhere.

Newspapers are dying and AL.COM is too. They cant afford to pay a full time beat reporter like the old days. We already have whats his face on the payroll who writes PUFF pieces. Irvine?
UAB basketball is nowhere near what it used to be. That's obvious from the competition to the number of fans and everything. Not sure it ever will be again.
The new normal might be an NCAA bid every 5-10 years and anyone who doesn't like it is "negative" or not a real fan. (Shut up, give money and pay no attention to the massively bloated athletic department)

Yeah, you're right. After looking back a bit, I saw that Lee really has started to wake up, and after looking at last night's stat line it really didn't look all that bad.
I guess it was just watching the game it felt horrible. I don't know if it was the sloppy play, the low quality production, or what. But it just felt like a horrible game. And losing 3 of 4 going into last night didn't feel all that great either.
But the stats did paint a better game than I felt like I witnessed.

This team wins much more consistently when there are more players in the rotation, particularly, Gueye, Lavender, Sullivan, and Perry, and in no particular order. Also, I believe that all four of those players help this team in one way or another, DEFENSIVELY! All four are physically athletic, so to speak. I have noticed that the nine players that Ehsan plays for the most part are becoming more coherent with each other, team wise, on both ends of the court as Ehsan has them in the game in different combinations. They are playing with more confidence as a team and less apprehension, on both ends of the court. Has anyone else noticed that?

The only way I would advocate playing the bench as much as you seem to do would be if Ehsan put Conley, Lee, Norton and Bryant on the bench.
