I just noticed that The Athletic Cincinnati announced they are launching on Feb 12. Based upon their twitter, the subheadings of topics are Bearcats, Bengals, Buckeyes, Musketeers and Reds.

I'm not sure if I'll subscribe or not but as far as staff goes so far, I'm glad to see they'll have C. Trent covering the Reds. From a UC standpoint, I'm not so thrilled that they'll have veteran Xavier writer Shannon Russell covering both XU and UC (although they'll also have Mo Egger contributing) but I'm open to giving her a chance. She seemed to do a nice job covering XU from my limited exposure.
My take on Joe Goodberry covering the Bengals is TBD.

Shannon Russell responded to the horde of angry UC fans yesterday, saying that there is actually a plan to hire a dedicated UC football/basketball writer. She is just covering UC basketball temporarily. If that's true, it's a huge relief and I may buy a subscription depending on who they hire.

I haven't followed it very closely but I did see some references to her being given a very hard time. I guess my initial post didn't help with that, but I hate to see somebody getting attacked who really hasn't done anything wrong yet. I hope people at least give her a chance although it sounds like it's just a temporary situation anyway.
