Exclamation al.com - Woodfin to propose $3M annually for 30 years for new downtown stadium
http://www.al.com/opinion/index.ssf/2018...river_home

If Birmingham is to build its proposed $174-million, up-to-55,000-seat open-air stadium in the area adjacent to Uptown and the BJCC in time for the opening game of the University of Birmingham's 2020 season, or even for the opening of the 2021 World Games the following summer, the Birmingham City Council must decide the city's funding commitment at its next scheduled meeting, February 6.

He will ask the Council to commit $3 million annually for 30 years towards servicing the bond needed to construct the stadium, according to a copy of the proposal obtained from sources at City Hall just prior to the meeting.

There is plenty of time between now and February 6th for the Mayor to get the name right. If he is going to support the stadium plan UAB needs to the tune of $90 million (triple the Jeffco contribution), we can cut him some slack on the name. As my dad used to say, "Call me anything you like, but don't call me late for dinner".

Although it's not my first choice for use of that space, the BJCC stadium "horse" appears to be in a major lead coming down the stretch to the finish line.

It was actually the writer that made the naming mistake/Freudian Slip...
