Y'all keep mentioning a basketball team. This is a made-up thing, right?

I think it's a Club sport. Don't know much about it.

Brady made an NCAA tournament

Seven teams in the league tourney, definition of statistical outlier. I’m not even arguing we couldn’t have improved further under Brady. But you don’t get 10 years to improve to that low of a level.

This is a good time to pull out an update on an old post.
NCAA Tournament appearances with their current CAA school...
Bill Coen Northeastern 1
Earl Grant Charleston 0
Martin Inglesby Delaware 0
Matt Matheny Elon 0
Pat Skerry Towson 0
Louis Rowe JMU 0
Tony Shaver W&M 0
Zach Spiker Drexel 0
Joe Mihalich Hofstra 0
CB McGrath UNCW - 1st year so he has no history.

That is 44 years of CAA coaching seasons with one current coach having an NCAA bid. Pretty staggering when you look at it.
Maybe one of these breaks through this year or Coen continues coaching up his team and gets #2.

What we typically see is CAA coaches who get an NCAA bid and move to greener pastures with better job offers even elevating some programs to better conferences. While those who fail to get an NCAA bid get fired eventually.
Of course, when you are JMU and you have a coach that gets an NCAA bid, you make sure you fire him and replace him with the cheapest hire possible. 02-13-banana

So, the standard is 1 NCAAT appearance every 8 years. Good to know.

The standard actually appears to be lower than that for the rest of the CAA.
Coen is considered to be a good coach and he is coaching his team up again this year.
He has one NCAA bid in 11 years.

Exactly.....so Hart should be good to just wait another 6 years and re-evaluate and if Rowe has taken JMU to an NCAAT and/or has a roughly .500 record Rowe would not be acceptable as that is the exact resume that Brady brought to the table. And oh yeah it would be acceptable to have a losing record against the better teams in the CAA just as Brady did.

We are getting what we paid for, not bad, competitive, close, but no cigar. Jeff Bourne is as big a part of every loss as the players and coaches.

RE: JMU @ Drexel fight for last place
I attended the Drexel game- tough outcome. It was the first time I have seen the team play live this season. I sat two rows behind the JMU bench. I would encourage the other JMU fans if you haven't to see this team play from that vantage point.

Obviously the team has some real areas for growth (the offensive flow was very spotty especially without Phillips who was a non factor) but I thought the coaching staff came across better live than on stream in that they are talking to players constantly, teaching, and really into the game. These are things you expect from your coaches and what you pay them for so I'm not going to pat them on the back for it. But I'll admit as a supporter of the program and the change in coaches and ultimately as a supporter of Coach Rowe the results early on had me wondering if he is the guy in terms of a Head Coach. The jury is still out but I came away from the live game with a new perspective on his demeanor as Coach. He's a tall guy and to me on stream sometimes looked a little awkward on the sideline. In person it was different. I think he has the players respect and attention as well. They seem like a nice group of young men and there is some real talent there.
