I hope DeNiro gets the screwing he wanted for Trump from both entities. He deserves nothing. He's a male Representative Waters with no sense at all. I'll laugh at his troubles, he's evil to the core.

I've actually kind of enjoyed social distancing. I've figured out that I don't really like people, so the farther away they are, the better.

I had two very socially oriented careers that I retired from. I had people fatigue already. So I totally get what you are saying. My yard and garden are better tended, my wife has been marvelous company. And if I go to a get together it is reasonably contained due to COVID which I actually enjoy more because the conversation is more than chit chat.

RE: What grinds your gears?
Hey JR and Owl, perhaps our wanting to be far from people is an old folks kinda thing. I know that I'm not too much of a social butterfly myself. I just enjoy a few friends but am not too keen on visiting people. I HATE small talk which my wife when she could speak well would relish it. When we first married and we went to a dance or large party she would be out there talking to all her friends and I would tag along and just stand there and say a few things when asked. Once we were married a few years I told her I'm sitting here you go and socialize while I'll wait here.
If we were at a store or whatever if she saw someone she would get giddy like a puppy wagging his tail. I would just groan because I knew that she would want to go talk to that person. I told her why can't women be like men? She asked in what way? I told her men will just wave and say howdy and leave it at that. You know that "how you doing neighbor" from far away greeting.
I hate to make small talk, (did I mention that already?).

RE: What grinds your gears?
I actually used to be very much the, "hale fellow well met," party animal type. In the Navy, I spent a lot of time operating with the Brits, and the Royal Navy and Royal Marines are very much party animals.
But I have always disliked small talk. Then I married a woman who constantly tried to put me down whenever we were in social settings. I think it was because she had married up and felt like she had to make me look bad to make her look good. I tried to explain to her that it didn't work that way but she wouldn't have any of it. After a few years, it got to be where I didn't like being in social settings with her, and even after our divorce, I've become less and less sociable as time as passed.

I think your analysis of your ex is exactly correct. When our family was in social situations my wife didn't put me down, but bad actors would try to pick her for information. I consider small talk at social settings with people I do not know well to be wholly useless. When I speak to people I usually have a reason to talk. Glad handing goes with the position but you are always aware of who you are speaking with and why.
My best friends and I can talk about anything but when together we may go long spates of time before anyone brings anything up. When you fish it's just that way and makes the outing that much more enjoyable. When hunting the only time we talked was in going to the site and leaving it and then we talked about the hunt.
I never did trust social butterflies or jabber monkeys.

RE: What grinds your gears?
That's the thing about hunting or fishing--or golf, to mention another. You're just out there with good friends enjoying the experience, and there's really no need to talk about anything. Yeah, you will talk, but you're not there to talk, you're there to enjoy the experience.

RE: What grinds your gears?
Gym rants incoming:
1) I appreciate it when folks wipe off equipment after use. It gets your funk off the equipment and it’s just a generally hygienic thing to do. However, if you’re going to spray the equipment, you have to take the follow on step of wiping it down. So many people just spray and walk away. I can’t for the life of me figure this out. I wind up having to wipe the stuff down before use so I don’t get swamp ass from the cleaner.
2) If you’re going to occupy a piece of equipment then you actually have to use it. Sitting there for 30 minutes while playing on your phone is a no go, guy. Crank some angry music through those headphones and start working out.

RE: What grinds your gears?
Finally put someone on Block here after 8 years of posting here.
I don't have the patience for someone who's out there to pick a fight w/ me every time I post, even digging up old threads to do so, or looking to fight on posts that shouldn't warrant such heat. I think he's just butt-hurt I gave him negative Reputation points.

Like a lot of barely middle class pretentious people it is a small way to distinguish themselves in their minds only from their neighbors. But look on the bright side, it is also the first step into lardassdom which is the first step into an early grave so in that regard Darwinian principles are at work!

Haha, great point. I get the need to use a riding mower for these types of yards in some situations (physical disabilities, the elderly, Memphis fans, etc.), but most people can stand to push for an hour or so.
Btw, I’m gonna steal lardassdom.
