RE: What grinds your gears?
One thing I've noticed too is that these aren't just 'I don't have any money' [so I'll vote Red once I get older & get more wealth]. These are people who agree w/ every Dem talking point, whether it be they feel guilty they're well off & want the government to fix the injustices in the world, that the Republicans start all the wars, that it's the Republicans are greedy bastards who blame the poor's failure on being lazy, they're homophobes & sexists, etc. Doesn't matter their religious background either - although the people my age who are Red voters do seem to be more fundamentalist Christian.

The 'younger people vote Blue then Red when they're older after they accumulate more wealth' is going to go away not because there's less people in my generation who will accumulate wealth, but because they're against the Republican Party & anything conservative as a whole & agree w/ every single Democrat talking point. Plain & simple.

Education & media are prime culprits, but I also blame the older generations not part of those groups for not teaching them correctly. Older Red voters were scared of teaching them their views b/c they were afraid they'd get accused of indoctrinating the youth & being too hard on them. Well what do you know what happened, the youth were getting indoctrinated by Blue at school & by the media.

Also, not too long ago I was watching a YouTube video on the Kent St shooting & all the anti-war protests on college campuses. I connected the dots between then & now, that a lot of Blue voters today were created in that time. The Blue Wave started then

RE: What grinds your gears?
Personal beef here:

My wife sews, and beautifully. She's completely made many many bridal gowns over the years and it is her hobby, not her profession. If I go into her sewing room and break her concentration while she is sewing she jumps all in my biscuits and gives me holy hell.

But, when I'm writing whether seriously or posting here if she comes into where I write I have to give her my undivided attention or I'm an uncaring pos. Therefore to avoid the crap I look up, repeat key phrases, agree with her, and she leaves happy. The problem is my writing gets fouled up, I loose my train of thought and have to reread to jog my memory, and in short I never get the consideration she demands while sewing.

What grinds my gears is that if I defend my turf, as she does, life is damned miserable for a week or two. If I screw up what I'm working on to make her happy it isn't, but it pisses me off something fierce because I never tolerated that when I was working and subordinates and coworkers tried to do the same, but then I didn't do it to them either.

I'm happily married for well over 40 years, but how long Oh Lord does it take a woman to realize she has to give the same private time as she demands?

If you find a post of mine where the whole flow of a thought disappears into a garbled incoherent expression understand that I'm not drunk, I don't have Alzheimer's yet, and that I am suffering what sometimes can be one of many many interruptions while trying to have a private moment in which to convey a thought.

And some may wonder why my happiest moments in life have been on a 21 foot boat in the Gulf Stream with engine and radio off, outriggers deployed, and drifting at a speed fast enough to troll. Well now you know!

I'ma gonna cosign on this one instead of simply typing it all over again.

Not quite to 40 yrs yet, but on the second half side of this game.

Alas, I guess simply put it's called being married...

RE: What grinds your gears?
JR, you're problem is that you're married to a woman and that started many moons ago with Adam and Eve and it's not gonna change...ever.

My biggest peeve is when I'm working on something and my wife interrupts me for help. I realize that she can't do very much because of her illness but she's been doing this even before she fell ill. When I'm working I HATE to be disturb because like with you it throws off the karma or flow of my work.

Yesterday I was cleaning house and even though I HATE housework I realize that if I don't do it it won't get done and don't tell me to get professional help, that's not gonna happen as I hate people working in and outside my house. I'm a very private person and so is my wife. They won't clean to our standards to begin with and I would hate to be telling them what to clean.

Anyway, my wife has gotten into her habit of asking things of me when I'm doing something useful and that is a pain. I don't expect her to change so I guess I'm relegated to just griping and getting made at her. My anger or her's for that matter don't last more than a few minutes anyway. Too bad your wife isn't like that but oh well, different wives think differently.

Well, every man's situation is a bit different. I love mine as you love yours, but the demand for attention is similar yet dissimilar. They are both women so that's the similar part. Your wife has a serious illness and for that you've both had my prayers.

Never cared much for anyone in my home either, especially to clean. Had a rash of burglaries when I lived in Georgia. Turns out the bug man was casing houses for his friends. They didn't get mine, but sure hit a lot of others. My schedule was so whacky they could never be sure when to hit. That, and I required the bug man to meet me since I wasn't giving anyone I didn't know my keys. Today it's healthier anyway. The bug poison goes on the outside and not the inside and is more effective.

We share cooking and each have our specialties. We share cleaning though my wife's eyesight misses stuff I have to get behind her. It is what it is. But, I do miss fishing in the Gulf Stream. Therapy more than fishing and an experience dang close to Nirvana.

You know what grinds my gears.... people who treat animals better than people. Now, I am not saying you should mistreat people, but last night one of the homes in my neighborhood went down in a fire. One of the neighbors, a guy who drove around the neighborhood after the election results were announced flipping off people with Trump signs, was in the crowd that developed outside and the first thing he said was "Did their pets get out, I don't care about their children.". What an a-hole.

Quite frankly, what grinds my gears is the damned republicans.

Democrats are pushing us toward Venezeula, or more likely Argentina. I'm counting on republicans to push back, but so far they have just stood around and watched.

Democrats have a badly flawed agenda, but they are passionate about it. I don't know what republicans stand for, and I don't see much passion about anything. When one side is passionate about achieving an objective, and the other side is passive to ambivalent, you're going to get what the passionate side wants, sooner or later.

My only hope at this point is that republicans finally wake up and start being passionate about something besides abortion.

Whores aren't passionate about anything. They just sleep with who they are told and take the money. Now carefully explain to me how McConnel fails to fit that description.

So my advice to you Owl is to call them what they are and to drop false hopes. The Democrats have passion, but their ranks are lined with whores who won't ultimately deliver on many of their promises. There's no difference between Republican whores and Democratic ones. They both work for the same corporate pimps. The radical left will get some positions and some air time for their views, but where their views don't line up with that of the corporate handlers that's all they'll get.

What’s the obsession with referring to Kamala “Madam Vice President”. I remember the left was doing the same thing with Hillary period to the 2016 election. Nobody ever put Mr. Vice President to describe any prior VP.

Like a lot of things they champion, I think it boils down to it sounding European and regal.

Same as "Office of the President elect".

Made up, likely focus-grouped gobbleddygook made to sound "official" and give some sense of the gravitas the leftist media has been obsessed with for more than a decade now.

Still think Sloe and the Ho has a nicer ring to it.

Certainly closer to the mark... 07-coffee3

While we’re at it,

If I hear “we’ll circle back to that” one more time in my life someone’s gonna get a sternly worded reprimand in their next email.

Not gonna have a “pull-up” with you either.

Yeah with an “overarching” and “on tomorrow” thrown in there.

“We’ll circle back to you ON TOMORROW with a year over year, overarching perspective, on the projections.”

When you hear “on tomorrow” you just think, what an idiot.

Mine are how misspelled words like there, their and they're. Also, people using went for the proper gone. For instance, "I think she has went there", and other misuses.
