I don't believe SMU has ever been at full strength. At the UC game, they were recovering from the flu, and Akoy Agau was still getting his game legs back. Before that McMurray was ineligible and Agau was out with the knee infection. Now Foster and Ray are gone for the season. Plus, we are limited to 11 scholarship players, the 11th (Isiaha Mike - Duquesne transfer) is sitting out.
Not an excuse, as all teams by this time are often facing adversity. SMU is back to where they were last year, with 8 scholarship players (3 true freshmen). Although last year three of those were Seniors and future NBA players. This year there is only one senior (Gu). Milton will have to carry this team, and several players will need to step up big time to replace the all that Foster provided. Agau appears to be improving each game, and we need him to play up to his potential (Top 100 recruit offered by everyone in 2013) to have a shot at winning this conference, and getting another chance in the NCAA tournament. We need Gu, Whitt, and McMurray to keep hitting buckets to take the pressure off of Milton. And we need all the freshmen not named Ethan to shift their game into high gear and contribute solid minutes.
That’s really unfortunate. SMU is definitely worthy of a bid, but there are too many opportunities yet to lose it. The odds do seem against them. But it was amazing what they did after Foster went down. They just need to find a way. Starting tonight.

They’re still getting the talent, they just need to slide someone in and coach them up.
That 2016 class is a shell of its former self after the mass-exodus. UCONN's 2018 class is currently ranked #2 in the AAC behind WSU, but yet again, has no one to develop them into quality college players.

Hopefully one more notch on the #fireollie belt. Unless you listen to the pompous know-it-all's on the Boneyard. They think he's getting another year to right the good ship UCONN.
Seems like all but those who took waaay too much acid back in the day have seen the light by now.

You can’t really play the injury card because both teams have been very seriously dinged.
It’s about UCONN player pride vs SMU player road confidence.
Must see TV.
I would think that the win at WSU would have given SMU all the confidence in the world that they can win on the road.

I knew that was the case, but that wasn’t really my point. Despite being in the AAC and losing Calhound, UConn is still raking in the recruits. Would that change if Ollie left tomorrow? I tend to think not. UConn, at least so far, has been immune to having to rebuild after major disruptions...such as coaching and conference changes.

"So far" is the key.
Recruits thought they could win a National Championship at UCONN. Going forward many will wonder if they can make the NCAA Tourney at UCONN.

Wait a minute... you tellin' me that SMU + Jank won at WSU?
I had successfully erased that memory from my brain with chemical as well as meditative therapy. I was at the point where I believed it to be a nightmare. And now the rumination begins again... Oh well, back to therapy.

Its kind of hard to take anything these sites say seriously when they can't even list the right players in your recruiting class. 247 lists Rod Brown who is a freshman at WSU this year in the 2018 class and doesn't list Isaiah Chandler at all.

While I agree. Rod was 2018 and reclassified after signing to 2017. Chandler was 2017 and took a prep year after signing. I'm not sure if they adjust the class dates after signing.

Their league signed 13 4* recruits for next season and ours signed 4?
