Week 4 of conference play.
This week is a light week for conference games. Only Saturday features conference match ups. The rest is filled with ooc games.

So far UMKC is losing to D II William Jewell 50-44 with 12 min left in the second half. If they lose, UMKC can expect a horrendous season.

GCU hosting William Jessup (the other William J school apparently?) tonight. So far, Jessup is hanging tough for an NAIA school, but they won't have the horses to keep up the furious points. Lopes already hung 31 points on the Warriors, and there are still 10 minutes left in the first half.

They lost. William Jewell is rated 25. Just don't get how nw mo st rated 8th and William Jewell can have a better team than umkc with all the resources.

Tough loss tonight for the Roos. I'm hoping the Lopes don't drop one to William Jessup. It's ridiculous right now... I think both UMKC and GCU looked over two lower division non-conference opponents. While the Roos couldn't get going in time, hopefully Canyon can take heed and finish strong to avoid their worst loss in five years.

Enrollment standards might have a little to do with it. UMKC is more limited by school and APR rules as to what players are available to them. Some of the lower division teams have D1 caliber players but academic dictate their school opportunities. And, then again a lot of the lower division programs have undersized guys with big hearts. Because they were overlooked because of their lack of size they play with a chip on their shoulder.

Horrible showings by both WAC schools tonight vs. DII opponents, especially UMKC. Here come the Aggies this Saturday Roos. Kangaroo meat. Yummyyyy.

I'm not sure who I am rooting for. I would love some Aggie meat but with the financial situation I need the aggies to get the highest possible seed and run the table in the wac and make a ncaa tournament run.

First conference game of the week features CSUB at SU. Should be an interesting one.

Oh, the Roos will be getting some Aggie meat. It just remains to be seen where they'll be taking it...

CSUB appears to have made a game of it with Durham now back. But Seattle still prevailed 59-55. CSUB is definitely having a down season.

I don't know if Barnes can recapture CSUB's stature within the WAC now that there are more than a few good coaches in the WAC who can also program build... adding Jans and Hayford to the coaching list... and Croy next season.

Don't worry, Barnes will able to tell future recruits they will leave California one time during conference play each year. That's assuming Hawai'i is in the same division as CSUB.

RE: Week 4 of conference play.
So GCU and UVU are having an early game today. I’m anxious to see if the Lopes bounce back. Maybe Majerle knew exactly what he was doing. I saw Oscar Frayer posted a video on Twitter from practice this week, with Dan driving on Vernon and Martin, only to get in the lane and hit a fading hook shot. So maybe there’s still some fun going on. They likely settled things in practice.

If you look at the WJU game as a statistical outlier and a trap game the Lopes overlooked, Canyon is still one of the best defensive teams in the conference. UVU is the highest scoring team. Something has to give in tonight’s battle for second place.

KenPom is saying UVU by 3 I think, but I'm always a subscriber to the theory that the best defense wins against the best offense.

So, talk about bouncing back on defense.... GCU up 14-2 on UVU with 10:00 to go in the first half.

Disappointing show by UVU right now. Not sure what is more disappointing though, the team or the fan turnout.

Now all of a sudden UVU woke up and GCU is taking a nap. Lopes look shell shocked, UVU looks like the 2nd place team.
